Leg 55-Maracaibo SVMC to St.Georges SYCJ

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

Picking up the batton from DGOR after he flew into Maracaibo, La Chinita Int'l Airport aboard his very blue 737-200. This has turned out to be probably my worst flight ever. First of i was to fly a C-130 in the colors of venzuelas' air force only to have it crash half way through. (The PC not the A/C) I ran the flight again, this time forgetting to set up FS screen and so no pictures :mrhappy: A pity because there had been heavy thunder storms and the sky was incredible.

So anyhoo, gave up and looked for a venezuelan commercial airline and came up with Aeropostal. A small airline with some DC-9's and some leased Airbus 320. A quick search on Avsim brought up a very nice paint for the now freeware SGA MD8x series. The paint is an ex-Spirit airlines MD82. She has not been repainted and thus carries Spirit colors with the Aeropostal lettering. I thought she looked very nice and i just had to fly this bird.

The flight between Maracaibo and St Georges left me with very little in the way of airport scenery so please forgive the shots on the ground. I tried to keep these to a minimum as there is just so little to look at. As such the flight is only 15 pics long but here goes.....

Flight plan filed and awaiting the people. The weather was warm and muggy, will be glad to get airborne.

Full power with gear tucking away, my first flight in a maddog was underway

Climbing above the city with the the Gulf of Venezuela in view.

Making my first turn. I bet its close in the city but im airconditioned now.

Cruising alttitude would be 12000 today.

The flight was mostly over land by this point but here we hit the coast along side the Delta Amacuro.

aer-8.jpg

Close to our destination now as we pass the Essequibos' river mouth.

aer-9.jpg

Approach vectors recieved. We turn away from Cheddi Jaygan Int'l to get onto the upwind leg. Somone glances at the faint noise of a passing jet.

Turning over St.Georges.

aer-11.jpg

Lining up on Final deploying gear.

aer-12.jpg

The most interesting feature i could find for a screenshot as we are cleared to land.

aer-13.jpg

For a first attempt at flying an MD82.....

aer-14.jpg

I was happy with my landing :-)

Well this is where i pass on the batton to the next aviator. Sorry for the volume of shots, i found it hard to take pictures of much of interest. All i have to do now is get back home from St.Georges Venezuela :???:

Thanks for looking..
