My advice is to sell the C172 - import something that can carry more (like a C185) and use your overdraft of 100,000 to get it - you'll make the cash up sooner than you think.

Then put the sliders to get maximum jobs, smallest volume packages and shortest distances.

I tried a couple of different routes and got to 100% within a couple of days - gets boring after a while though, so best get it out of the system, then do it at a more leisurely pace and enjoy it :)

I'm going to disagree slightly (assuming you are playing in Career mode). Your initial target is to get out of the one-pilot-one-plane hole. It's not actually to make money, not initially anyhow. Money is not your most valuable asset; reputation is.

Your first target is to bring your rep up to 50. Once you get to 50, you can hire a minion, and that minion can make you lots of money while you're out, or sleeping, and very quickly you'll have more cash than you know what to do with.

To get your rep up, you need to deliver loads. It doesn't matter how much or how far, just how many. So, selling the 172 and getting something else might fly a bit faster or further, or carry more, but that won't get your rep up any faster. Every successful load gets you 0.5 points of rep (that goes down to 0.3 when your rep is over 60). Thus you need to make 20 successful deliveries to get from 40 to 50. Failed deliveries (late, or taken to the wrong place) will lose you 1 point. Using the aircraft as a tool for terrain remodelling will lose you .7 points

Study the jobs board and pick your jobs carefully. Double check the expiry date. There's no point in taking the best job in the world if it espires in 1 hour 59 minutes, and it's a 2 hour flight: You'll lose a point of rep, and need to fly two more loads just to get back to where you started. Look for back hauls and the shortes positioning flights: Empty holds only cost you money and don't increase your rep. If you do get another plane, cargo capacity is more useful than speed. If you've got the capacity, you can take two or more loads at once, and that is A Good Thing. Again, short hauls are better because you can achieve more, faster. Also try to avoid big jobs that will need more than one trip.

Once you can hire a minion, theen the hard work really begins... :pilotic::thumbup:

"One pilot plane hole"?

I prefer to be the sole pilot - although I will occassionally take on a pilot or two (even took on 4 once).

I disagree on some of your points, but everyone has different ways and ideas and I ain't gonna argue the toss ;)

I kind of agree with JD on this one. I found trying to control my minions a task that was more or less boring, but I guess that one of the strong points of AH is that you can take it in any direction you want. Either press on as a lone pilot, or take on a more administrative role and plan out good routes for your pilots.

But what I found most rewarding is the fact that AH got me flying to and from new airports almost every time.

Just remember to check the runway type for your delivery point. I ended up trying to land my cessna on a helipad or water runway a few times :001_th_smiles48:

"I got 10 sheep here for a mr Joe Mutley, can you catch? I'll put the docket on the end of a rope for you to sign..."

(picture blatently nicked from Joe's ss thread)

Unfortulately AH doesn't allow 'rotors running' or 'drop/winch' style deliveries, so I think the nearest you'd get is docking an amphib..
