Flight 1 BN2 Islander or Aerosoft DHC-6 Twotter?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

As some of you may know, I'm a big fan of the Carenado GA Aircraft. But now I'd love to venture into the world of super light aircraft airliners. I've always wanted a BN2 Islander, but looking at Aerosoft's twotter aswell... it's quite a hard decision. At the moment, I'm leaning towards the BN2. I know Joe and a few others on here have the DHC-6, so what would you suggest?

Cheers,

George

Hi George,

I have both but prefer the BN-2 but there really is nothing in it, it just depends what route I am flying. Last weekend I made a flight to St. Mary's (IOS) in the Twotter, quite a basic aircraft but very enjoyable. The BN 2 is a little more refined.

Either one, you can't go wrong! :001_th_smiles89: ,

I tend to prefer the Islander, but that's mostly because the Twotter is a turbine, and I never quite get the hang of the lag in turbine engines. It's certainly no reflection on the quality of the planes - they are both excellent implementations.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the replies. In terms of quality, both look absolutely top notch, as most of you have stated.

So therefore down to preference, I think I'll go for the BN2... then perhaps a bit later I'll purchase the Twotter too.

Cheers,

George

As usual I'll chip in with performance considerations.

Although the Islander is not massively FPS hungry, the Twotter is a LOT better.

So, you may wish to consider that, along with the fact that Aerosoft also do a Mission Pack for the Twotter !

Additionally, the Twotter has a classic panel choice with no GPS whatsoever. I also believe that the 90B GPS in the Twotter is second to none, and altohugh they include a 100 page manual, they suggest using the Real World manual !

I was surprised at the question, as to me they are completely different aircraft and I would say they are only similar in that they both have two engines (and two wings...).

However, I also own both and I would also give preference to the Islander. However, it depends where I want to fly and the job I want to do (Islander doesn't carry much in Air Hauler, fer eggs - but can be more fun to fly in difficult locations).
