Hi all!

I've never seen a VC-10 airborne or take off. Come to thing of it, I've never heard Conways! So here are a few videos showing the VC-10

And the offical BOAC adverts!

And, another of the classics of British aviation, the Trident! I can't seem to find any take-off videos (if you can, please add!), so here's the BEA adverts :

If you have any other classic airliner videos, please share them!

Kieran nice find :icon_thumbup: the VC10 was one of my fav. a/c of the 60s. My father work for BOAC then BEA then Hunting Clan at London Airport, from the late 40s to mid 70s so i was lucky enough to get up close with these great a/c, but sadly never got to fly in any of them. The sound of 4 Conways at take off speed was just awesome. You are right Mutley, they were the good old days. :001_th_smiles89:

Hi,

Great videos of the prettiest airliner ever to grace the skies. As a child and son of a serviceman I got to fly on VC10's a number of times out of Brize. My first trip was to Hong Kong in 1969 aboard XR810 "David Lord V.C." we refueled at Bahrain, Gan, and Singapore. The return 18 months later was aboard XV102 "Guy Gibson V.C.". Stopping off in Singapore, and Cypress. I confess that the registrations I had to research, but the names I remembered and made the task easy. Many more flights were made over the years but these two standout.

The 10's of Number 10 SQDN R.A.F. were unique. THey hd strengthened floors, rear facing seats, the fuse of the Standard 10, with the wimgs and engines of the super VC10.

As to the Trident I never flew in one, but remember it for it's off set nose wheel. I also believe that it was the first airliner with autoland capabilities. The last one that I saw was in a field whilst flying over Herefordshire and was a training tool for the S.A.S.

Some may be interested.

bloody noisy, filthy dirty, gorgeously sleek looking aircraft of wonderment. Will most definitely be a shame when Brize is no longer frequented by these beauties - i for one will miss cycling past the aircraft pan on my way into the office and not seeing them.
