ddavid 149
Don't you have to be over 18 to use Traffic X? Mind you, I hope you opened your eyes before you turned on the AP! Cheers - Dai.
needles 1,013
Forgive my naive mind but does that constitute a near miss??:icon_thumbup: A great shot though Joe!
mutley 4,498
Hi, I Brian have reported it to the CAA with full documentation, photo's and a bung! Dai, I am over 18 (just) but I use F1 UT2!! They're to blame. If it was TX there wouldn't be any traffic (Whoops ) Cheers, Mut
hurricanemk1c 195
I wonder if the Flybe E-190 pilot put in a CHIRP report........ Nice shot though!

pacinka 0
Hmmm, nothing special. Happens all the time in FSX!
aeromax 10
That´s a nice shot, :icon_thumbup: some would argue that it would be only in the simulator. so we had a near collision last year in EDDF, like that, also with clearance! Great Shot :001_th_smiles89:
Tim_A 997
No wonder the back end of your plane is brown... :th_smiles73:
needles 1,013
No wonder the back end of your plane is brown... :th_smiles73:
IcedUpPitotTube 0
Would that count as the ATC's fault or the pilot's?
needles 1,013
Surely as the Pilot it is also your responsibility to look what's happening around you? I think Joe must have been in a bit of a hurry eh?:001_th_smiles89:
Tim_A 997
There's a long backtrack at Southampton to get to the threshold when lining up. FS doesn't really cope well with that kind of situation, since it assumes that aircraft will enter the runway behind the previous departing aircraft. And that isn't always the case as we see here. RW, the clearance would be conditional, viz "After the departing Bonanza, line up.", meaning you wait for the other plane to go past before entering the runway. And, as needles said, good airmanship dictates that you maintain situational awareness and don't enter the runway while someone else is using it.
mutley 4,498
Here's how the rest of the flight went, sorry I haven't got time to add commentary but I have included the flight plan so you can work out where I am? Cheers, Joe
SEATAC 400
Some really great shots there Joe. A question. Did that plane pull onto the runway after you began your takeoff roll or did you see him and just decided that you vould get airborne in time?
mutley 4,498
Hi Rich, As Tim said, the backtrack for two-zero is immense, unlike zero-two. I had patiently run the length of the backtrack, I had clearance for take off so began my roll then I noticed there was a Embraear 195 heading towards me so added more trim and pulled back, I'm sure she would have flipped if I had tried to avoid by running off on to the grass that's why I closed my eyes and kissed my a**e goodbye. The rest of the flight was a pure joy except for a strange smell in the cockpit
