Hi everyone,

I apologise for my lack of activity recently, I hope my excuse of a holiday in Portugal is a good enough reason for you all.

All in all, it was a fantastic trip. I have never been there, but I must say the people are amongst the friendliest I've ever met. Despite horrendous rain last Monday, the rest of the trip never failed to deliver constant sunshine, and temperatures well above 30 degrees.

Here are just a few, random shots from my trip. There are over 300, and these may not even be the best, they are just random shots.

Of course, however, one of the main highlights of the trip for me was the flight(s).

Luckily for me, Jet2 provided us with a Boeing 757-200, the aircraft my home-cockpit is based around (well, a 767-300 actually, but the cockpits of the two aircraft are exactly identical, right down to each knob and switch).

I managed to get a fair few snaps on the aircraft:

Although I knew the chances were slim, I asked the cabin crew if I was allowed to visit the flight-deck. To my amazement, I was allowed, both on the outbound AND inbound flights!

I managed to get some good, high-quality pictures of the cockpit - Absolutely perfect for my home-cockpit project. Hopefully you shall see some similarites between the cockpit shots and my own simulator (see top of general forum).

Enjoy!

A little blurred this one, not sure why!

Incredibly, on the inbound flight, the First Officer offered to let me sit in his seat. Of course, I accepted!

That's me!

The crew let me get so gorgeous shots of the overhead panel, including a full-fledged night-light test:

So, that's all for now! I really hope you enjoyed the post!

I'll bet he doesn't get told off for having his mobile phone on!

Picture 6 is a bit, um, unfortunate though! :secret:

I can't belive you noticed! :001_th_smiles89:

The mobile phones were certainly a talking point for us! Interesting that both the IN and OUT bound pilots had their phones smothered over the fire handles! Eek!

Regards,

Jack

:001_th_smiles76: Pic #6. Were you going caving that day Jack?

The cockpit shots are your dream come true eh? Excellent shots mate. Glad you had a good time.

What a great set of shots, I must remember to at least ask for a sneak peak on the flight deck next time I get on an airplane.

I also found that mobile phone a bit strange. By the looks of it all your shots were taken while standing still on the ground, so I do wonder if they actually had it on while in flight....

After seeing an episode of Mythbusters where they actually tried this out I do feel that it's a necessary precaution to turn them off. Even if they tried it on old scrapped instruments mounted in a dummy plane I think they saw clear effects on the HSI and Altimiter when making a call.

I like to think Jack placed the phone there just to see if anyone would notice.

Did you Jack?????:th_smiles73:

^_^ Of course not Brian. Oh, and by the way, it's phone(s); both inbound and outbound pilots were guilty of the cellular crime!!!

Yes Stu you are correct, they produce very minor effects but nothing serious, however everything and anything is taken as a precaution in aviation.

Max, yes, please feel free to use the pictures (especially the duct pressure gauge; should help loads) for the CNC millers.

Regards,

Jack
