Martyn 9
Passengers boarding(watching out for the snipers...) The terminal isn't looking to shabby considering the location, just avoid the mortar holes The backdoor is being used to load up food Your first look of the cockpit, daunting isn't it? APU started, setting up the overhead panel for 'before start checklist' Instruments booted up Loading up the flightplan via the ACARS Entering the weight/fuel/route information into the performance computer Tuning in the VORs, 1.1 miles to Baghdad and 111.4 miles to the Iraq/Iran border Engines started, pushing back from the gate F/O's POV over this lovely cockpit The hot sun is rising A very empty airport, although I'm sure the real thing isn't quite this peaceful Flaps/Slats down, about to enter the runway And airbourne, a surprisingly slow depature compared to Airbus/Boeing aircraft Performance computer is taking over the climb profile whilst I turn to intercept the flightplan The view of the Baghdad landscape Our aircraft as seen from the outskirts of the city It wasn't an interesting cruise(lots of sand) so I skip straight to approach. Low and slow I'll be honest, I am having problems getting this aircraft down to its 120-130 knot approach speed Crosswind touchdown, loooots of smoke! Turning on to the taxiway, flaps up Tower view as I follow the truck onto the ramp Power off, doors open. Another challenging flight in this beast
allardjd 1,853
Martyn, Great shots. The livery and the airline brought back some good memories. Republic was serving the airport where I learned to fly many years ago, though were using Convair prop twins (440 I think) in that service as the main runway there was about a thousand feet too short for the DC-9s. The duck logo on the vertical stabilizer came from the even earlier North Central Airlines. Not sure how or when the two became one - no doubt a merger of some sort. Anyway, thanks for an interesting post. John
mutley 4,498
Interesting choice of Flight Martyn, you couldn't pay me enough to fly into Baghdad let alone out of it :mrhappy: The VC shots were fantastic, there really looks to be a lot of goodies for button pushers! It's also nice to know what's going on in the flight too. Thanks for posting, Cheers

Martyn 9
Top quality. How were the FPS like? 35FPS, locked at 35 FPS. I am one of the few people who's computer seems to prefer FSX to FS9 :mrhappy:
Magic Man 0
Whose Super80 is that...? Looks a very nice VC.
Martyn 9
Whose Super80 is that...? Looks a very nice VC. Its Flight1's Super-80, developed by CoolSky
dgor 0
Fantastic shots Martyn, I always enjoy your shots in that there are a lot of "action shots" of the cockpit showing the procedures pre-flight, etc. Looks like a really nice cockpit too - the CoolSky Super 80 has been on my list for a long time. Please tell me that weather radar really works! If you don't mind me asking, what are your system specs? Looking to get a new computer soon and to be honest anything that can give me over 25FPS in an addon aircraft in FSX will suit me fine :mrhappy: Dave
Martyn 9
Unfortunately the weather radar is just an animation. However there a plenty of clever blokes on the Coolsky forum, who have worked out a way to add the RealityXP weather radar to the panel. I am running a Dell XPS M1710 laptop: -Intel Core 2 Duo 2.17ghz -2GB DDR RAM -Nvidia 7950GTX 512MB
