I agree with you John, it's looking better and better. And judging from the last video posted there's dynamic lighting/shadows in the VC that actually takes into account where the sun is.

I know that some think that the scenery only equals what we're already seeing in FSX, and that is true but only with addons that together cost way more then FSX did to start with. I'm not sure why they expected a quantum leap in texture quality over what we are seeing today in a new sim.

Let's just hope that Flight comes equipped with full utilisation of hyper threading and 64-bit support so we actually can utilise the power and amount of RAM we have available in our hardware today. And that the detail in the mesh they are using on a global scale is up to the standard in these shots.

From their new page, discussing the 'high performance' spec machine:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • RAM: 6GB

Which strongly implies that it does.

More worrying though is the disc space requirement, which is only 10GB. FSX took up 18GB on disc, so that rather implies there is only about half the content...

Microsoft Silverlight cannot be used in browsers running in 64 bit mode.

You are running on a browser that may not be fully compatible with Microsoft Silverlight.

Yeah, well - I'm using, er, Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) - pity it isn't supported... (soft snoring, off)...

Cheers - Dai.

P.S. And, No, I'm not installing a 32-bit browser, Thank You!!

Well, actually the recommended spec of 6 Gb RAM sort of indicates a pure 64-bit software since a 32-bit software only can access about 4 Gb...

Even if you run FSX on a 64-bit OS it will never be able to allocate more than a total of 4 gb RAM + Video RAM if I have understood things correctly.
