Wing struts above the wing have to be big - they're in compression rather than tension and have to be beefy enough to not buckle. Wings struts below the wing are in tension and the load-bearing elemen

But can it lay an egg?   I've seen photos of that one before but don't know what it is or where it's based.  Such poor taste in flying objects is more commonly seen in the hot air balloon ge

While we are waiting for John, would anyone like to tell me what aircraft (looks like a turboprop with folded wings) is in the bottom corner of Kieran's last pic. Page 64, Post 1273. Just wondering and can't see it to well.

Hmmm...Maybe not so easy to see. :fool:  That does look closer Alan and there is an image of the C2A closed up that resembles it. I even had to use a magnifier to check for the dome and couldn't see it, also the horizontal stabilizer is straight across on the C2A and V'ed on the E-2. What do you think Kieran, on first glance I see why you chose the E-2 but I think Alan might have pegged it. :hat: Thanks guys.........

Of course it is...

The boarding ladder is a neat feature of the P-38.  The ladder portion folds flush into a slot on the lower side of the fuselage and the handle, when stowed, is nearly flush with the top side.

I didn't think this one would last long.  Take it away, Alan.
