OK Guys, try this one. It had a very famous designer and when it appeared was one of the worlds most advanced fighters. Again this is a FS pic but the aircraft was real enough.

Spot on Andrew, It is indeed the IA-33 Pulqui 2 designed in the 50s by Kurt Tank, formerly of Focke-Wulf. It could have been a world beater but politics and economic problems in Argentina killed it.  The aircraft bore a striking resemblance to his FW TA-183 WW2 fighter that thankfully (for the allies)never got into service!

Guys,

 

Could one of you please seize the initiative and post a new plane.  The real world is conspiring against me at the moment and severely interfering with this FS obsession of mine.  I will be monitoring and may even get a chance to post a guess or two over the next few days
