J G 927
I kinda knew that as I don't think the Airacobra or Kingcobra went to a five bladed prop.

J G 927
Shackleton it is. The shape of the fuselage is the giveaway. My dad used to take me to RAF St Mawgan in Cornwall when I was a boy where you could park almost at the end of the runway and watch these magnificent beasts thunder overhead as they left to go out on patrol. The highlight of my holidays! Over to you Geoff

Andrew Godden 945
the British 707... ...otherwise known as the... ...the one that was never completed and one of the greatest "what ifs" in British aviation. Even the House of Commons debated it at length. When someone else guesses it, it's their turn. Cheers Andrew
dodgy-alan 1,587
That's the one Andrew, the prototype was just about completed when the silly sods in Downing Street pulled the plug. Many of the features on this aircraft found their way on to something much more famous.

dodgy-alan 1,587
It is indeed the stillborn Vickers V1000/ VC7. Almost made it into production but interfering government pillocks killed it. Many of the design features finished up on the VC-10, but by then Boeing and Douglas had cornered the Market. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickers_V-1000 Andrew guessed it straight away but Rob named it so I guess the Kudos goes to him!
