dgor 0
Evening chaps, Just starting the post for this one. The DC-9's just gone tech in Mogadishu, and this being war-torn Somalia, it's going to be a while before the nearest mechanics (in Cape Town) can get to us. Now, where is that AOM... And can someone please confirm that the ICAO for Mogadishu is HCMC? I tried typing HCCM into FS9 and it came up with somewhere called Candela, which is just a runway. Might be a fault with the AFCADs. Cheers, Dave
mutley 4,495
Hi Dave, I noticed the devastation in the city on the way down, they had fighting as recently as April this year  The ICAO should be HCMM I had it wrong in the title of my post but correct inside :blush so that probably didn't help! Looking forward to the weekend. Cheers

dgor 0
Sorry again about the long delay :poster_oops: Damn coursework. Right, after I found that my previous choice of aircraft - a USAF DC-9 - didn't like MSFS ATC, I decided to borrow something else from Uncle Sam's Flying Club that would make up for the delay. By travelling at Mach 2. And so it was that I found myself in the intimidating cockpit of an F-15 Eagle, parked at HCMM and surrounded by armed guards. Ethiopia here we come! View of our route for today. Final checks being done in the cockpit before we close the hatch and start those massive engines. ATC clear us for takeoff on runway 23, and since all the taxiways have long since been blown up this meant a lengthy backtrack. Turning round at the end and keeping an eye out for any fire from those buildings. 3, 2, 1...go! Afterburners burning beautifully as we lift up into the warm air. VERTICAL1A departure today  Turning onto course, heading towards the BEDLA intersection and climbing to FL400. Breaking the sound barrier at 40,000ft above Somalia. Not much to see here, except the beautiful F-15 tearing through the sky at twice the speed of sound. Love this horizon effect - downloadable from Avsim. The mountains of Ehtiopia coming into view now as we plan the descent and arrival onto runway 23R at HAAB. Going down! Annoying the locals as we get the speed down to below 250kts before passing FL100. Close in base for runway 23R. Whilst descending you need to be careful not to forget this airport is at almost 8000ft MSL Yikes! Some corrections being made as an Ethiopian B732 clears the runway. Over the threshold. The massive spoiler on the F15 slowing us down. Taxiing in, ATC direct us to a remote stand. Parked up, with the big engines cooling down. Just about to sign the baton off to Phil before leaving for the hotel.0 Hope you enjoyed, sorry about the delay once again. Over to you Phil! :-) Cheers, Dave
