mutley 4,498
Have you tried it on a longer runway Jim, like Boscombe Down EGDM? Also check things like temperature which affects air density and wind direction, could be a factor.
brett 2,315
It's usually something simple Jim. Go through the manual step by step. Some of these payware aircraft are complicated and everything needs to be just right. Have you tried setting the trim to minus side numbers. Heavy weights can require this for take off. Check all the gauges and see what is low at full thrust and you might be able to narrow it down. Fuel pumps on?
UKJim 502
The manual is no good does not detail any flight instructions unfortunately. All looks ok with gauges etc and speed gets to 200+ with no lift?
PanzerFodder 0
All looks ok with gauges etc and speed gets to 200+ with no lift? Pump out some gas, and see if you can get off the ground then . Cheer's...Graham... PS: is this the one you got?
mutley 4,498
Does the kneeboard give any more info Jim?
UKJim 502
I've got the virtavia model but I might end up getin the area 51 model if I cannot figure this out! I will have to check the kneeboard tonight and see if it details any further info bcuz the manual is poor!
mutley 4,498
Hi Jim, I have the Area 51 model and I am very pleased with it. I have just placed it at Birmingham at MTOW and took off ok but it was close. It has a really naff parachuter's effect
mutley 4,498
One thing I must say is there is no manual with this one either, you have to download a manual from their website and it's not brillant.
UKJim 502
Cheers Joe - I might get this one or something else! Looking for a nice big jet for air hauler that also has a gps window (I like using gps in AH) Might try the DC10 tonight see how much it is and cargo etc. Wanted this though as it starts fast and flies great too - shame I have this issue! hurricanemk1c 195
Just a suggestion - what flap settings have you tried? And if that C-17 doesn't go with a reasonable amount of flap (you're talking about 15-30 degrees), try the UKMIL C-17 (file names ukmilc17.zip and : ukc17p11.zip, found on FlightSim.com)
UKJim 502
Just a suggestion - what flap settings have you tried? Full flaps, half flaps and flaps down two notches (i use this for other planes) and also no flaps at all - no difference in lift - the nose wheel doesn't even move! I did notice that AH put the cargo in the copilot section in payload, even changing this did not help! I'm going to get the area 51 version instead and see if it works better, don't need bells and whistles just a plane that flies with the load its meant to carry. Gona give the dc10 a go tonight I think its been a while
brett 2,315
Hi Jim, AH never seems to put the loads in the correct sections and I do it manually before each takeoff. The load distribution in my dh2 Beaver is very sensitive to where it is placed. I tried looking up some information on the C17 and there's not much of it availible. I did not find anyone else that had the same problem as you so the search didn't go well. There were some comments about the companies very slow responses for support. I noticed the fact that you are flying it in AHauler, have you tried flying it it free flight? Have you tried a delete/reload of the whole thing? Very odd problem for sure, I would probebly return it and get the Area 51 model just because the lack of support from Virtalia and your level of fustration. Two days is the most you should have to wait for a reply.
UKJim 502
Ok problem solved for my virtavia model - AH put the load in the wrong place making the weight be at the front hence no lift! I did a free flight put max load in correct section and up I went! So I cannot b bothered to jig my cargo every time in AH so I'm going to remove the sections I don't want and only have the one good one! I did get the area 51 model and I have to say the VC in the Virtavia one is better IMO! So sticking with the virtavia one! Going home now to try this out in AH before purchasing with my proper company. Thanks guys!
brett 2,315
Glad to here it Jim. Happy flying. I once flew in a military C130 once and thought that was big but looking down the cargo hold of that baby is daunting. Will AH even give you enough loads to fill it?
UKJim 502
Thanks to whoever changed to solved was just bout to do that! I'm leasing it in AH did 4 flights - 6mins per flight (short trip for practice) total of 6+ million pounds So looks like I'm keeping it hehe! I even got a greaser on one landing - ok for rest of them! Cheers guys
