A320cap 0
Hi! Are there any repainting tutorials for the PMDG 737/747, JF 737, PSS 777? Thanks
allardjd 1,853
I haven't looked at it, but there's a FS2004 painting tutorial listed in the freeware section of the latest issue of PC Pilot. It's on the bundled CD. John
mutley 4,495
Panos, Here is a link to one of the best guides there are- http://mbev.net/prod/repaint.zip it is for the Level-D 767 but the techniques are the same for PMDG and the rest. So long as you have the relevant paint kit this tutorial will help. Well I hope so  Cheers
Longbeard 0
Where can I find templates for aircraft? I'd like to try to paint something. Thanks.
mutley 4,495
To our forums Longbeard! Repaints and templates can be found all over the place. The most popular sites are http://www.avsim.com or http://www.abacuspub.com/repaint2/ great fun. Cheers
Longbeard 0
Thank for the help! I'm pretty handy with Photoshop, been painting race cars for simulations for years, not an expert by any stretch, but I can paint. It's probably a waste of time for me to paint an AC, because my machine doesn't provide the greatest frames, but I do enjoy painting. I don't have any payware AC, but I do have a few (very few) freeware addons. I was really wanting to repaint the Leer 45 that comes with FSX. I was thinking there may be a default set of templates or something, I'll look around and see what I can find. Thanks again! John
mutley 4,495
Hi John, PhotoShop skills are just the ticket  I have found a paint kit for the FSX Lear here http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2. ... tBlank.zip Hope this is what you need, if you need any help applying the paint to the aircraft just holler! Longbeard 0
Thanks Joe! I may indeed need some instruction on getting it into the game, thanks for the offer! Do you know if FSX uses alpha channels for shine/reflection? Thanks! John

Do you know if FSX uses alpha channels for shine/reflection? Thanks! John Yes it does and they are usually included with the texture and don't need editing unless you can improve them. For FSX the best format is .dds DXT5. nVidia have a free pug-in for Photoshop
Longbeard 0
Yes, I use that plug-in to paint race cars with, DXT5 is used for those as well. I like to use the alpha channel to make logos, pinstripes, etc. stand out a little. It's one of those little things that, if you do it, no one may notice, but if you don't do it, everyone may notice. Thats the case with cars anyway. Thanks again! John
mutley 4,495
I would love to see some of your NASCAR repaints and game screenshots, that's another one of my interests! Cheers
Longbeard 0
These paint kits don't come in layered PSD format? All I see in the lear45 kit is bitmaps. :great:
mutley 4,495
Ah, that's not too clever is it, makes for a very long day. I will have a look later but it will have to be in the morning as I am just going out for the evening. Cheers
