Kasper 14
After Joe left Sharon and equally important The Baton in my hands it was time to prepare for the flight to Hamburg. I had already planned the flight for the DC-3 but weather in Holland was not very good and after a short test flight I decided to take the Viscount instead. The Goony Bird nearly got blown of the runway and once airborne it was all over the place. Not fun at all. I decided to use the flightplan for the DC-3 but fly at cruise level for the Viscount and of course with the higher speed of the Viscount. Since Sharon is not the only one going gooey at the site of a uniform I whisk her away from the airport to change into a 1950's KLM stewardess uniform. Flying the Viscount in KLM colours Sharon will welcome the guests in style. With all pax on board we prepare to leave the busy apron. Notice the Hangar of the Dutch Dakota Association in the background. After startup we receive clearance to taxi to runway 27. Weather is still appalling and I am glad to be in the powerful Viscount in order to climb above the weather as soon as possible. As usual it is busy at Schiphol and we have to wait for some Boeings to clear the runway before it is our turn. Finally we are cleared and off we go to Hamburg. We pour on the coal and in no time we have cleared the weather. Time for us pilots to concentrate in keeping the plane steady so Sharon can do her job without losing her footing. It is obvious Sharon is not relaxed yet since she is clutching at the seat in front of her, I wonder how the flight with Joe went? We are happily flying along just above the weather. Something we would have been unable to do in the DC-3. I guess the passengers and Sharon are happy that we can do it now. But all during the flight Sharon was a little tense and would not let go of the seat except when serving drinks to the guests. After a short and uneventful flight we descend to Hamburg runway 15 We lower gear and flaps and fly the approach, lucky for us weather at Hamburg is better than it was in the Netherlands. We prepare everything for landing .. And after a very soft landing leg 2 of ATWC4 comes to an end. All that is left after deboarding is to escort Sharon and the Baton to Mikael Over to you Mikael! mutley 4,498
Great post Kasper, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for getting us safely to Hamberg Sharon was quite relaxed on my flight, but that was because she was in the FO's seat next to the driver! Cheers, Joe

Kasper 14
Thanks for the compliments. Sharon being a little tense has to have something to do with my flying then. No wonder she wants to take some time off!
stu7708 244
Or she has seen my landings with the NGX at ESSA and ULLI, and knew I was up next
ddavid 149
Good flight, Kasper - smooth and efficient. Pity Miss Dizzie wouldn't co-operate, but the BEA uniform certainly fits her ladyship! Maybe a cockpit view next time? Just me being picky, don't worry! Cheers - Dai. What a great vintage AC. ...she said something about taking a week long sightseeing on the Reeperbahn and the St. Pauli area.... Do you think she's trying out to be the next St. Pauli girl?
