PC-12, Piaggio P-180 Avanti (but not for short fields), Short 330/360 if range isn't too far, King Air; any DHC model after the Caribou, i.e. Buffalo, Twotter, Dash 7, Dash 8. The Dash 7 with four turbo-props was a surprisingly good STOL AC, reportedly able to leave 'em gagging and puking in the aisles in a maximum performance departure. Fairchild Metroliner, if you're glutton for punishement.

A fine selection for me to look at tomorrow, John.

We're only talking about 800 miles in NZ max. It's more to do with which ones of those above will give me the 6k (or more) cargo that I get with my DH-3's

In Aus and China I have Airbus's while I save up for 747's. So I just need something interesting to replace the Daks, domestically. Keep the people happy as it were and stop their never-ending whinging about lost/delayed/damaged goods!

I think UKJim had that in his fleet for awhile and he stated that he had carried around 35,000 but I'm not sure if that was the max. Hopefully he will see this and weigh in with a realistic answer.

Well, hoping to revive a discussion that started last year...and got SO CLOSE to the answer I need, then trailed off in another direction.

 

Midway through this thread, another guy asked about modifying the cargo capacity of the Basler BT-67 (turboprop variant of the DC-3).  AH gives the capacity as a little over 2k pounds, versus the DC-3's 6k+.  Obviously the specs for the turboprop variant make it much more versatile...and I essentially want this aircraft for my AI pilots.  

 

Can someone tell me which lines of the config file to alter, and what values to change them to?

Also, just a little about my AH story...bought the Tahiti X terrain add-on and fell in love.  Several small islands within 25 -50 miles of each other.  4000' runways mean you can't get anything too big into any of the island airstrips...and then there's my "home," the tiny island of Motu Nao Nao, which in real life is an abandoned WWII dirt airstrip but which the Tahiti X add-on has renovated into a private house, paved airstrip, complete with a wrecked plane and parked DC-3, some barrels and other parts and supplies nearby...and what really makes it special: the towering palm trees looming over the strip.  It better have a small wingspan if you want to take off again.

 

Also, the parking spots are pretty limited.  On each island there are only a handful of parking spots for your fleet...but it's pretty cool to land after a mission and taxi up the terminal that is already crowded with other planes from your fleet.

I am glad you brought this back up again. I wouldn't mind knowing the changes Kasper referred too in his post myself. Reading through the posts it seems that the extra fuel tanks are the problem although this is out of my bailiwick. I am sure the experts will pop up soon enough but in the mean time you could try to hash out the long range fuel tank lines in the [fuel] section. Make a backup copy of the aircraft.cfg file and then open up the original. In the fuel section put hash marks in front of these lines so it looks like this:

Sorry guys, been a little busy so I'm late to the conversation.

Brett gave the correct solution - the reason it was not posted earlier is that Richard indicated that he did not need it anymore.

So comment out the long range tanks and you get 7610 lb payload with 804 gallons of fuel. That should do nicely for the ai.
