Looks like one of my landings :whis:

Must have been a scary moment for those guys with cameras on the side of the road.. looks like the right prop passed straight over their heads in the photos below the video....

where i used to fly out of popham we alawys used to get reggies blocking the access road, i used to take great glee in descending to about 2 feet out of the field on the other side of the road then pick the plane up to about 8 feet, pass over the parked cars and spread eagled reggies, then plonk it on the runway, they eventually got the hint not to park there.

In this case i think as the runway started close to the road i will give the pilot the benefit as the road was about 3-4 feet higher than the runway, but i am surprised there wasnt a displaced threshold however it can be difficult to judge exactly where your wheels are when you are 30 feet above the ground.

Needless to say it is not a question of if this will happen at queen juliana but when.

Thanks for posting this video Brian. :thum: I'm with Stu as far as having a few of these under my belt too. I remember a landing just like that one the first time I flew the B-52 in the sim, the runway looked awful small and the AC is bigger than I thought. It also drops out of the sky very fast at slow speeds. :th_blush:

Looks to me like he bumped the hill a bit before the road. A real close call for the spectators, I would probably stand a little further away next time I went for a photo op. Hard to forget those props whizzing by your face. :wacko2:

Do pilots get chastised in any way when something like that happens in the RW or do they just get razzed by their fellow aviators?
