ddavid 149
England's green and pleasant land - I guess you'll have to fly lower to see the satanic mills... Thanks for sharing, Rob - looking forward to the review. Cheers - Dai.

jaydor 345
I have been a compulsive obified Orbx fan, But England has stopped me in my path to FSX glory with Orbx. The more I see the more I dislike. I am not after VFR but I am looking for realistic scenery that can convince and EU_E is not doing it. Now PNW and even NZ look the part even if not VFR and EU_E does not come close to them no matter how much you try and convince yourself. I guess I will stay with Horizon for now. I wonder how they will cope with Gods country next? If they leave off the Cardiff landmarks and fail to render the South Wales Valley's reasonable, then it will be the death sentence for Orbx. They heard plenty of shouting from the English, if they fail; at Wales there could be a right sing-song. I think Orbx have made a whoopsy with EU_E and if they do not take notice of the criticsim then they only have themselves to blame..
rosariomanzo 545
Very nice shots, Rob. I'm enjoying EU ENG so much.
ddavid 149
Nice to have you back, Mike - glad you haven't lost your sense of humour! As to Wales, well, it's going to be interesting to see how the higher ground looks. Hope Orb-X have got plenty of bracken autogen... Cheers - Dai.
Andrew Godden 943
Great shots Rob and FTX England follows a fine product line. Now, as a cartographer by trade originally, it sure isn't satellite photography or even an orthophoto map, but then I am not paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for a product that gives me that level of detail and accuracy over that area. Cheers AG
ddavid 149
Thanks, Mike - a terrific read which made me laugh heartily on a cold, frosty Monday morning. Yes, like you, I'm a grumpy old basket too, and I'm getting to enjoy that special facility that comes with age - objectivity. Ha! Keep smiling - and I'll think about that half price offer... Yep, thought about it, but, No Thanks, Mate! I'll stick with Gen-X and Treescapes and hope that Darren extends his Shawbury Fields to Wales!! Cheers - Dai.
jaydor 345
Orbx in many eye's including mine, is the creme de la creme of addon scernery with the exception of EU_E. Not since the whole inception of Orbx from the original FTX AU has there been such an improvement to the FSX graphics delivery of scenery in FSX. Orbx has changed the way of enjoyment in the gameplay of FSX with such an improvement in the eye candy that it has brought us (almost real) or almost beleivable scenery. But as with all the runup before release by Orbx to the EU_E we were led to beleive, that we were going to see something better than all other releases to date. I know we are all allowed our own opinion to like or dislike a release and until now Orbx has to my knowledge not received such a large amount of negative feedback comment on a release as they have with EU_E. If you follow other forums they all show more of a negative than a positive, with the exception of Orbx itself who have blocked or deleted negative comment. Those who did, have received a warning from Mr Venema of their behaviour. I have not yet purchased EU_E so cannot make a close quarter apraisal to it. But I do look at as many screenshots that I can and what I see is a dissapointment to me as a simmer with this release. Yes it is a vast improvement to the FSX scenery, no question to that. But there is so much that needs to improve, that I am holding back until such an improvement takes place. When I say improvement as an onlooker to the release, I see so much error in the autogen from screenshot to screenshot, take the first shot by Rob above, there are lakes showing to the left of the picture, but the 2 on the right of the group look to slope with the ground gradiant. I don't think plain FSX does that? In shot 6 there appears to be a motorway converging each side of the river but no connecting bridge? It's not the big picture that the eye sees but the focused area of veiw and with such obvious a thing as a bridge missing confuses the grey matter and at my age not much is needed for that to happen. I do believe that Orbx will eventually improve EU_E but I think that will be awhile yet as so much is missing including I hope the colour of Englands green and pleasent land; (O'le messers Blake and Parry) will be turning in their graves. Tim_A 997
Summer textures Picture 4 appears to show rape fields still in flower, which would put it around June time, I would guess? (Oilseed Rape is the only thing that ever gives me hay fever, which means England in May and June is a Yellow and Unpleasant Land, as far as I'm concerned...)
mutley 4,495
Know what you mean about the yellow peril Tim, I can smell it a mile off! I would doubt that they would try to do a "Darren" with that sort of detail in seasonal textures in a scenery area of this size, I have just a done a PC rebuild now using P3D as my main sim, here are some shots using fall textures, it looks a bit cartoony to me, I have found some very nice little sections of scenery, but then again some awful bits. Overall I like it but will probably stick with my photoscenery for accuracy. Cheers, Joe
jaydor 345
Good to see some lower shots Joe, see what you mean by cartoony, although the higher you go the better.
ddavid 149
Now then, what if Orb-X are aiming to take over the world letting us have EU-E (England, I take it?) at a fairly low price so that they can sell individually populated airports like they've done with PNW? "Heresy!", I hear you cry! "Let's burn him at the steak!"... Only kidding, Boss! Hwyl - Dai.

GHAO 0
I guess when you live in the subject area you will never be happy! FE - Rob's penultimate shot is lacking a rather important motorway bridge! But the two before that look great.
brett 2,310
@ Brett Oorrrrrr! Nothing personal my friend just worried about ya going to far on ORBX scenery comments. I would certainly not want to see ya go the way of the delete button. It was just funny that there are comments aimed at mikes posts but I didn't see his posts. Went over to the AH section and saw all of his creative and funny posts all gone too! I guess he is not just suspended but wiped of the face of the site. Not only dead and buried but someone stole his gravestone w/epitaph and all. That's sad, he made alot of great contributions here. I'm going to get ORBX England for Christmas but am glad I'm not familiar with how it should really look. I'll just take it as it is.
ddavid 149
Brett, I, too, am sorry that Mike was shown the door. I thought that his more recent public postings had been much more amenable and acceptable. Unfortunately, in the background, he had continued to be more than just a handful. You know, the type you want to be friendly with, but just has something in his nature that makes you upset inside because you don't know how to handle the grief? It's happened on the forum before - things just seem to get out of hand and there's no alternative but to let the 'loose cannon' go. It's not an easy decision to make, but it is in the interests of all despite being hard on the individual. Now, I know I'm a mod and having said the above, I want you (all) to know that this comment is not a veiled threat to anyone. We're a great group - with all that's going on: Reviews, ATWCs, MEBARs, etc - and it will continue, I'm sure. So, let's get back to normal. Hope that makes sense - I've just read through it again and wonder if I've made my comments agreeable!?! Whatever - you know what I mean! Cheers - Dai.
brett 2,310
I understand what your saying Dai. I myself say things that some might consider controversial and am happy to leave it at that and not continue to make my point. As a moderator at another site I have to put a stop to things at a certain point. Although a public forum, they exist for entertainment purposes in the long run. I do not agree with censorship but there needs to be limits set for varied reasons. You guys are in charge and that's that. It was just sad that all his other posts were deleted too and makes reading past threads a odd experience. Mike is a nice guy and MrB was a hoot. The posts will be missed. Thanks for the reply.
