dodgy-alan 1,587
Airbus A400M, Been after this one for ages. Parked at RAF Valley, (I'm sure those props were once used as a medievil torture device!) With apologies to Bernard Cribbins..."Right said Fred, Have ter take the wings off, those there wings are gonner 'ave ter go!" lift off Low over the Irish Sea Plenty more to come from this bird!once I've worked out how everything works! mutley 4,498
Happy flying Alan, looking forward to seeing more shots and to read about what you male of her. Better than the C130?
hurricanemk1c 195
It is an enjoyable aircraft Alan - but you can't quite throw it around as much as a C-130, due to the FBW Great shots!
rosariomanzo 545
Nice aircraft Alan, keep them coming.
Kevin Firth 114
Is that the Wilco model please Alan? How do you find it? Cheers K
dodgy-alan 1,587
It is indeed the Wilco one Kevin, so far i'm still finding out what it can and cannot do. Only had about 45 minutes with it so far. One thing I did find out after an extremely long take off run was that the default load/fuel setting makes it several tonnes overweight and although she got off she handled like a wet sponge! Bring the weights down made a hell of a difference! So far i'm very impressed, but then I do have a soft spot for trash haulers. Especially a partly home grown one like the A400M.One thing I did have to do was add a GPS panel as it doesn't come with one, (very big ommision in a modern aircraft like this I think. I find it essential in most aircraft just so's I can find out where the hell I am!) I used the GPS Anywhere file that I was sent some time ago. I'm so hoping I get to see the aircraft in service before long.(Not sure how long my dodgy ticker will keep going for so got be realistic.) In the meantime I'll keep experimenting! hurricanemk1c 195
@Alan - it does have a nav system - it's called a FMS. Not much good for flying around willy-nilly. You can set the Nav Display to display all the airports in the area

brett 2,315
Nice looking beast Alan. Enjoy, always fun learning new aircraft. Your right about those props, mean looking things. Maybe it was designed to fly not only over but through mountains.
dodgy-alan 1,587
.. Maybe it was designed to fly not only over but through mountains. SHHHH ! Don't say that out loud, It's the RAFs latest weapon, it was designed with help from Gerry Anderson ! (think about it!) Now terrorists won't be able to hide in caves, we just keep slicing them down until we find them!
brett 2,315
Good idea, pureed terrorists.
