Farm (bought the) Fly by wire. An old chum of mine who flew BAC 1-11s told me that his colleagues who flew the then new FBW Airbuses would often ask, "What's it doing now?" in flight!

I've found you've really got to slow this baby down when descending to about 230 kts then it captures altitude. This works for me. Great looker though!

I like it but I'm a lightweight so purists might not agree. I don't have the time or patience to spend ages configuring FMCs only to let them fly me. I'm old school, steam gauges, VORs, short hauls, nasty weather. I love it. BTW I keep banging on to Just Flight to produce a Bristol Britannia. I know Rich at JF is interested, so please back me up with some pressure on JF to make one.

Ah V Dubs. Back in the 1970s you could pick up Beetles for £25-£50. If one had good bodywork but bad motor and another vice versa we'd just jack up the back, drop the engine out and swop em around. Appy daze. Tiled a bathroom today. ZZZZZ

Not a joke but an amusing story anyway that I read in one of my books on 'Operation Fortitude', the Allies pre D Day plan to deceive the Germans into thinking that the Allied invasion would be at the Pas de Calais. You must have seen old film of the inflatable tanks and planes deployed around S E England to convince the Germans that that would be where the invasion would come from. This was not a new trick though as prior to this the Luftwaffe build an entire airfield; hangers, aircraft, vehicles, etc, out of wood. The RAF got wind of this and sent over a bomber to drop a wooden b
