So, Mut, how DID you get that SU-27 into Lukla, eh? In REVERSE :!: :?: Love to see the landing - I almost managed in the default Cessna - it's a b*tch :mrhappy: Cheers - David.

Hey, Fred - am I getting warm?? EDITED BY MULLETMAN Thanks for the guess. I removed your image to stop any confusion between the current guess, and where this airport was. Well, at least the runway is in the right direction - but I can't see the control tower or the car park!! More clues, please :!: :!: Cheers - David.

Love the dawg on the wing tip, Mut - brill plane, a real crowd puller  Cheers - David from Pembs....

Great pics Wayne, guess I'll have to wait for the FSX version. :???: Cheers - David. p.s. St Bride's Bay was beginning to look like this half an hour ago, but now the sun's come out again......

Slainte! Dave .... from your butty in Wales :!: Cheers - David.

Hi Phil - yes, you are getting warm. I think Captain Cook visited Honolulu and went on to find this island. Subsequently, a lot of missionaries were eaten by the natives! WWII passed it by almost unnoticed.... It looks like this on google: I'll post more clues tomorrow - if anyone's still awake  Cheers - David.
-
O.K. guys - here are some more clues (and a confession....) 1 The airfield's on an island. 2 There is a volcano nearby. 3 - and this is the confession :!: - the high peak in is in FSX (see pics) and may not be in previous FS versions - sorry about that.... Here we are coming around the peak - airfield in view: and here's the top-down view of the airfield: Hope you're still with us ....... Thanks to photobucket for image storage. Cheers - David.

Hi all - found the airport during a lull.... It's Tripoli in Lybya, but my FSX default isn't very clever.... OK, you all know this one - but here's a peculiar angle: Good luck - just in case you need help (I doubt that) I can post more clues tomorrow. Cheers - David and thanks for your kind comments, Mut :mrhappy:
-
Looks different in FSX: but I think it's the same.... Cheers - David. p.s. Still lambing, but I do get some time to 'play' :-)
-
Just want to add my thanks, John - I was coming down quietly from Haikado, researching Japanese aviators on the way (wrongly, as it happens!) and had got past the Phillipines when Mut struck gold. Well done both - I've certainly found out a lot more about an area I hardly knew existed...... And a very odd island, which may come up some time!!! Cheers - David.
-
Thanks, Mut, I really enjoyed the canal airfield and getting there in the Short Empire (not Empress, sorry!) from AVSIM - goes almost anywhere..... BUT, I'm totally strapped for time to do justice to the comp - at least for the next day or two (we're lambing here, no joke) - so any chance you, or one of the crew, could stand in, please? Many thanks - I'll make up for it when I can. Cheers - David.
-
Took some time, John, but the big steel gantries resurrected a distant boyhood memory of old geography books..... Making the approach: Flying over the canal 'gantries': And the nearest we could get to Albrook AFB with the Short Empress... LOL :mrhappy: Thanks for the destination. Cheers - David.
-
Would you need a hat here? :mrhappy:  Cheers - David.

Hey, well done John. It is Alderney by Tim Clayton and you can reach him at timcclayton@hotmail.com. And as they say, 'over to you'..... Cheers - David. :!:

You're getting warm, John, but it's not IoW. Cheers - David.

Sorry, John - I don't know about the grass numbers, but, you're right in thinking it's not on your side of the pond. Have you read any A. A. Milne? Try 'Now we are six'! David.
