Help please! Trimming
Onward79 replied to Onward79's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
My trim problem was down to those buttons in the Options/Control setup - the villains. Thank you, my Administrator. All is now well. Well, almost. Despite advice from Tim I still cannot get my aircraft symbol to appear on the Plan G map when I've set a flight plan and begin to fly it. The requisite F6 button is not listed as being used at all in the Options/ Control buttons set up. Any ideas, helpful souls? -
Thankee, thankee. . I tunnelled and dug and found it at 'C/Downloads/Plan G. It lurks therein.

Been away. Many thanks for all of that which will be executed pronto. -
In the bowels of Plan G where can I find the LOG FILE? Thanks.
-
Despite my Numpad light being off, the 7 and 1 keys don't do anything for my trimming any aircraft in FSX:SE. I've tried both with and without assigning those keys to my Saitek 52 Pro but still no joy. Any ideas, folks?

After some twiddling I have managed to create a profile in Settings that I like. Do I need to hit repeatedly 'Load' for that setting before starting any flight in order to use it as it's the only one I have stored therein. Thanks, folks. Having upgraded my computer I am now seeing objects never met with before. Worth every penny.

Bruce mentioned the Event Viewer which seems to be a very useful aid but could some kind soul tell me exactly how I might find those Log indicators that would highlight my FSX freezes? That might be asking a bit too much for which I apologise but I can see that there's a good deal of expertise gathered hereabouts. Thanks. -

Looks like one of my mails became lost in transmission so I'll try again now. Thanks for your concern, Brett. All is now well once again. You went on to send me some links to earlier Forum posts concerning the replacement of Norton in one's system with other protective software. I had that message from you but it appears to have taken unwarranted flight. Would you be so good as to send that info again? Thank you. Thanks as well to March concerning that ProFlight plug in file. With the help of two patient young women in Budapest who are Saitek's help team, I uninstalled my Saitek -

Crisis over and all is well, thank you Brett. I've done a clean out and reinstall of the Saitek material via their helpful Rumanian young ladies in Budapest. That solved the problem of that blasted Plug in for FSX. Things are running a BIT better but the next step is to follow all those rumbling mutteriings and clean out Norton. I am already using Malware Bites regularly and now have a choice to make from those available in the Antivirus - Spyware - Firewall areas. Any preferences there form you experts? I am most appreciative of your advice. -

Brett....I d/loaded and installed that "uiautomaioncore.dll" software but regrettably, no improvement. Does it grow on one with time ? Do you echo wain's disgust with Norton and, if I huck that out, what should I put n its place ? Endless queries from an elderly newbie. -

I found that lurking amongst my d/loads and deleted it from there. In addition I typed its title into the Search box, found it there and deleted it as well. Can I be sure it's now gone forever from my PC? Thanks for your advice. -

Well I have to admit that my pulse beat a little faster when I read that 'Pause on task' solution, Adrian....made sure that it wasn't selected but it didn't make any difference. Still freezing. Meanwhile Brett, that suggestion of yours, that 'dll.core' thing, only resulted in my Norton yelling at me that this was dangerous and shouldn't be touched with a barge pole. Can I ignore that altogether and go ahead with it? The scenery bit I feel doesn't apply as I haven't d/loaded any of that to date Finally, for now, does the fact that my internet connection is both weak and irregular have -

No, I have not. Never even heard of it. What's so trying is that in the past, with an earlier install, FSX ran without any trouble at all.The only thing I can think of that's occurred between now and then is that I'm a bit older and that brush with the Steam Edition, and I'm sure I've removed all of the latter. Pleased to have had your response. Any other thoughts? -
I tried Steam version recently but with a slow and dodgy internet connection that wasn't a go-er. That's all been removed and I'm back with a fresh install of vanilla FSX. My problem is one of suffering from frequent freezes whether I'm working with Missions or Free Flight. My settings are trimmed back to 35fps, my video card is up to date, my tweaks are limited to a couple in the cfg file. The game will run for around two to five minutes and then freeze for anywhere between 30 seconds and a minute and a half before getting underway again. Some freezes just don't release at all and

I'm trying to install both the vanilla FSX and FS-SE. Despite having new discs the former is being stopped in its tracks because of this "Error 1610" popup. I see that Windows once had a solution for this which has been withdrawn. As for the latter, I have tried with that before but it wouldn't make progress either, and although there was no mention there of this Error there, it still wouldn't run for me. Any solutions, my intrepid friends?

Your points taken, John. Pat on the backs all round. it is truly satisfying when that break through finally happens. Now the next challenge will be................?
-
I now have Plan G on my secondary monitor Thanks for your patience, chaps. When I'm really old and wise I shall be able to avoid this sort of hiccup. More powder to your elbows.

Ah! wait, wait. I got it! I see what you mean, dear ol' Bald-ick. I finally managed to expand that 'mini-bar'. Right...onward.
-
So...how can I get this map page to shrink a bit. All I have by way of a choice is either the very full screen or that 'mini-bar' like object that sits in the top corner of my screen an limits my choice to either Full Screen, shrunk down to the task bar or closed down. Neither is there any sign at all of those familiar arrows at the map's edge that would enable me to partially shrink it. I do have a picture of that 'mini-bar' but I cannot find the means of attaching it to this message. Shall I simply take to drink?
-
OK....more tomorrow, no doubt.

Hmmm. Currently I'm awaiting replacement FSX discs as mine have been damaged. They are due soon. Do I understand then that I have to have FSX running BEFORE opening up Plan G? Right now, when I attempt to open up the latter, although it opened up earlier this afternoon, it won't do so now. I'll re-boot everything up later this afternoon and try again. I shall return!
