  1. Looking for some more help :wootmesalia: I just wondered if there are any recommended settings or fsx.cfg changes to get the best out of the Photo Scenery. I don't seem to be getting any where near the image quality I see in screenshots posted over at PlayHorizon apparently with lesser spec machines than mine. I may be just doing something dumb. Machine spec Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83 GHz CPU ASUS P5Q Deluxe MB 4GB RAM Win 7 Professional 64 bit OS Scenery settings GFX settings

Hey Panzer, I'm very much on a steep learning curve with all of this stuff. I've got the very basics of REX working and the weather system is excellent. The photo scenery is good but has some mesh issues some of which I'm hoping are resolved when the update discs arrive and also my massive spending spree has now stretched to the VFR Airfields and the Treescapes so I'm hoping these 3D additions take it on a level and remove some of the "flatness". Using DX9 atm (hmmm I feel another question coming - duck everybody) Loving the whole FSX experience and the help from the guys on here has be

Getting started so thought I'd post hopefully the first of many screenshots. This shot just before take off at Durham Tees Valley with the REX 2.0 weather. Hope this works
  4. The WoAI looks great. I've downloaded the installer and installed a number of aircraft/airlines. Are they automatically placed in the flights in line with the FSX Traffic settings menu?
  5. Thanks Joe In my weekend spending spree I ordered the three volumes of the Airfields and the Treescapes and my update discs are apparently on the way so I'll wait and see what it looks like with everything added. Thanks again
  6. Well I have to say that's one of the better reasons I've ever been given :icon_thumbup: For what it's worth, it's very comprehensive and the manual is a quality read even for a beginner.
  7. In my FSX infancy I now seem to have three means of creating Flight Plans (none of which I know how to work - yet!) There's the FSX variant, REX 2.0 also has a variant and as recommended in one of my other posts there's Plan G. Novice question, which one should I use? I've started reading the manual for Plan G which seems to provide very useful detailed information.
  8. Just wondered if there is a more up to date view on the above question? I've been looking at this MyTRAFFIC X V5.3 PROFESSIONAL but as with most things FSX I don't know what I'm looking at
  9. More questions As mentioned in other posts I'm just starting out on my FSX experience and have now invested (heavily) in the Horizon Photo Scenery Volumes 1-4 (plus -3 upgrades) as well as the Airfields and Treescapes for 1-3. So far I have received and installed the photo scenery (version 2 - upgrades on way), given the extensive install time for these I managed only a short test flight from Newcastle last night but noticed that the airfield had different terrain levels producing mini cliffs where there shouldn't be any, I also noticed one of the road bridges effectively collpased into th
  10. Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help and guidance. There's so many things to get your head round when your just starting out. Thanks again :icon_bowdown:
  11. The low and slow flying is my main area of interest in my new found and expensive dip into the FSX scene. Just wondered what everyones favourite freeware and payware aircraft would be?
  12. Thanks again for the advice. I've ordered the Volumes 1-3 Version 2 bundle plus the upgrades to Version 3 (with the discount) and threw in Volume 4 for good measure. Also downloaded Plan G. Now just need to learn how everything works and then actually get some flying done, oh and find somewhere else to live when the wife finds out how much I've spent. Not sure Fathers Day stretches this far
  13. Thanks again Tim, really appreciate your responses. You must have met the wife LOL :icon_yikes: Sorry to be a pain but where have you seen the half price offer for the upgrade. I've ordered the Version 2 bundle but can't find the upgrades on Earth Simulation. I'm really tempted by the Ultimate bundle which has all the airfields as well.
  14. Thanks again - your making my head hurt now :icon_thumbup: Is this s good deal Bundle I can't fathom out if the version 3 stuff is out yet but this bundle plus the upgrades seems cheaper than buying full version 3 discs but I could be missing something. Thanks for the link - anything specific you would recommend - the airfields bundle?
  15. Thanks for the information. I think my friend thought he was doing me a favour. He bought a full set of the Version 3 discs and had no use for these, hence the free gift. I sort of suspected there may be an issue being a long time PC Gamer so I didn't install so I asked the question. I think it's easier all round if I just purchase my own new discs. I'll start off with the UK and see how far the cash stretches before the wife finds out :th_smiles73: I'm intending to do relatively low level flying in small planes initially so I think the Horizon discs will be the way to go. I've tried
  16. I was reading your Wishlist topic and a few of the members here have photo scenery on their lists. I just wondered if photo scenery is considered the best option for scenery. I'm confused about which way to go in building up my FSX addons in relation to scenery. I posted in another topic about mods/addons in general and have purchased a plane from Carenedo on that advice but I now want to concentrate on improving the visual experience in FSX. A friend of mine who is a long time FSX sim pilot has given me an earlier version of Horizons Photographic Scenery Volumes 1, 2 and 3. Are these wor
  17. First post on the forum and also very new to FSX and sim flying in general - done a little IL2 FB but that's it. I've trawled the world wide web and the array of potential mods and tweaks for this simulator is quite amazing. I understand many of the mods - addons are going to be a matter of personal preference but I wondered what the general views (if there is such a thing) are regarding scenery. The default (to be kind) is ok but I'm looking to improve the eye candy. I have already purchased and set-up REX 2.0 as best I can (don't understand the overdrive download thing) and I've picked up
