Christopher Low 63
I am always puzzled by the comment "it takes up to 10 minutes for traffic to start moving on the ground, and 15 minutes for arrivals". That really is not the case on my PC. Traffic starts moving immediately, and aircraft can start arriving almost as soon as I am being pushed back (and I start my flights with all engines and systems active, and contact ATC as soon as I am dumped in the pilot's seat). mutley 4,498
Hi Phil, I agree, I don't have an issue here, a lot depends on where you start from.I hadsome feedback from Flight1 about the re-spawn issue after using menus, it looks like another FSX shortcoming in that simconnect momentarily gets disconnected resulting in the re-spawn. It's not that big a deal unless you are watching ground traffic and keep accessing menus. It doesn't happen otherwise. Cheers, joe
brett 2,316
Good read Joe, I always wondered how these traffic programs actually work and you explained it just right for my less than stellar working brain pan.
Kasper 14
Good review Joe. A long time user myself I concur with your findings 100% - especially the first time you hear the start up announcement!
robmarkf 0
Couple of questions - Can you cancel a specific flight i.e. if I'm about to fly a scheduled route, I'd rather not have the same plane with the same flight number leaving at the same time on AI! Secondly, I read somewhere that one of the problems of UT2 is plane's parking where they like rather than where they should (heavy's in small gates, etc., BA at T4 at LHR, etc.), but I'd always assumed this was the scenery AFCADs rather than AI? Is this the case? Cheers
Christopher Low 63
The only way that a heavy could park at a small gate is if the wingspan is incorrectly designated in the aircraft.cfg file. Based on my experience with UT2, I do not think that it suffers from this problem. Conversely, I have had to correct the wingspans of several AI planes that I have downloaded from AVSIM or Flightsim.com. As an example, an A340-600 had a designated wingspan of only 126 feet! Quite why this happens is anyone's guess, but it is something that is worth checking every time. I have no idea if you can cancel specific flights.
brett 2,316
Hi Rob. In Joe's review under Flight Options it states "One nice touch is the "Fly Flight" which fires up a new window with the flight plan, you can create an FSX flight plane from here and fly it in the sim." plus further up the page it also says "On the same menu you can also stop and start the traffic at will." so my guess would be that you can take the place of a scheduled flight. That is just a guess based on two separate statements though.
