Quickmarch 488
March flies again! After a (almost) two month sabbatical, the boss climbed into his personal Beaver and actually made a buck for a change. QuikAire has been soldiering along under the capable management of Lauren (Crash) Pethard - now a Training Captain, high time hotshot, and general big-time earner. Lauren and Amelie have been burning up the PNW in a couple of DC-3's that March leased just before disappearing. The five pilots working for the company have managed to amass $8M in receipts. The boss is contemplating permanent retirement. Here's a screenshot of the laggard going for altitude on the crosswind out of CYCD heading for Friday Harbour. The bright light just over the wing is a UFO that has been hanging around the Vancouver Island area for a few weeks. March is kind of hoping the little green guys will drop in and fill out a job ap. Who knows what that thing will carry? Here's shot of some of the QuikAire fleet. As you can see, QA specializes in Beavers (plus a couple token DC-3's). One of the wheelie Beavers (Isabella) is still out on a job when this photo was taken. Amanda flies the one parked here. Antonio (another Training Captain) flies the lone turbine C208, also still out earning. The staff were criticising the sloppy procedures as the boss taxied into the parking apron with the flaps still at half-mast. He did manage to get the pitot cover on before shutting down the engine. You can find the bunch of them over at the Dinghy Dock Pub on the boss's sailboat - Passages. Drop in for a Kokanee (It's the beer out here) if you're in the area.
allardjd 1,853
Eight mil is not too shabby. They did OK. Just think what you'd have made if they weren't so prone to bending tin. John
remingtonbox 18
Just curious how you installed the pitot cover BEFORE you killed the engine, that would take some skill
Bobby 0
John, I always enjoy your stories and screen shots. If you find the green guys are looking for work, send a couple my way.....I'm looking for a heavy hauler for my overnight runs. My crew keeps disappearing around happy hour. Quickmarch 488
@Remington - parking brakes trigger the pitot cover, on the Wheelie Beavers also instantly sets tie downs and chocks. Aerosoft Beavers. @John - I've gotten over it. They make way more than they break, so I just put it down to "cost of doing business", kind of like paper for the photocopier. As it was, "Crash" dis $4K damage to the #1 DC-3 on the same day. Ho Hum!
