mutley 4,495
I hope this isn't too boring!! Part Deux Zagreb to Budapest Having sent the fuel bowser on it's way I can see why I cannot get it from the filling station. The Aeroflot liner was parked on top of it I remembered my way back to the runway. Off on a westerly direction I have to complete a 180 to get back on track. Turning we wave goodbye to Zagreb Established at 3,000, it's pretty CAVOK. A check on our flight plan means confirms we will be landed within 2 hours our ETE should only be around 1hour 40. Nice cloud formations We've left Croatia and into Hungary. The snow has covered such a wide expanse of land my eyes are quite strained even with my cool shades The pinch point of Lake Balaton confirms our next way point is not far away, Making our first turn for 120 miles as we now follow our approach directions We can see here the route we have to take. Budapest is just over those hills, getting the gear down early. Gear locked, I am going through the pre-landing checks Flap down one notch, the mighty Danube and the city ahead confirms our location, we are on base leg Turning onto final, I'm way too low but enjoying the sights below of this historic city. Fully flapped and trimmed for landing I'm quite pleased there is a gap in the trees below, I'm sure the heavies are more so! We're down I hope Tap is here or hereabouts! There's one inbound (In the wrong direction I might say!), expediting my vacate pretty smartish. Another simple route to the apron, the way I like it. Apron 1 my destination. The very distinctive twin towers confirms my location. Welcome to Ferihegy, cold and dark, just writing up my PIREP. Gathering up the baton for George. I hope you enjoyed this flight, it was a trek at just over 5 hours, I can still hear the wind whistling in my ears ! Cheers

TapA321 0
Stunning, Joe. The angle on the gear up shot has such an effect on the rest of the shot. I am glad to see you touched down safely and have the baton ready for me there. I am afraid I'm not in budapest yet, my flight got held up from Heathrow...somebody had inconveniently parked a BA 777 on the south runway I'll see you later, I am up for a nice bit of sight-seeing before setting off! Best Regards, George
