Leg 92: Fiumicino LIRF ->> Ferihegy LHBP (Part Deux)

Recommended Posts

I hope this isn't too boring!!

Part Deux Zagreb to Budapest

Having sent the fuel bowser on it's way I can see why I cannot get it from the filling station. The Aeroflot liner was parked on top of it :stars:

leg92234.jpg

I remembered my way back to the runway.

leg92238.jpg

Off on a westerly direction I have to complete a 180 to get back on track.

leg92240.jpg

Turning we wave goodbye to Zagreb

leg92241.jpg

Established at 3,000, it's pretty CAVOK.

leg92242.jpg

A check on our flight plan means confirms we will be landed within 2 hours our ETE should only be around 1hour 40.

leg92246.jpg

Nice cloud formations

leg92248.jpg

We've left Croatia and into Hungary. The snow has covered such a wide expanse of land my eyes are quite strained even with my cool shades shades-1.gif

leg92250.jpg

The pinch point of Lake Balaton confirms our next way point is not far away,

leg92257.jpg

Making our first turn for 120 miles as we now follow our approach directions

leg92261.jpg

We can see here the route we have to take.

leg92263.jpg

Budapest is just over those hills, getting the gear down early.

leg92265.jpg

Gear locked, I am going through the pre-landing checks

leg92266.jpg

Flap down one notch, the mighty Danube and the city ahead confirms our location, we are on base leg

leg92268.jpg

Turning onto final, I'm way too low but enjoying the sights below of this historic city.

leg92270.jpg

Fully flapped and trimmed for landing

leg92271.jpg

I'm quite pleased there is a gap in the trees below, I'm sure the heavies are more so!

leg92274.jpg

We're down I hope Tap is here or hereabouts!

leg92276.jpg

There's one inbound (In the wrong direction I might say!), expediting my vacate pretty smartish.

leg92277.jpg

Another simple route to the apron, the way I like it.

leg92279.jpg

Apron 1 my destination.

leg92281.jpg

The very distinctive twin towers confirms my location.

leg92283.jpg

Welcome to Ferihegy, cold and dark, just writing up my PIREP.

leg92285.jpg

Gathering up the baton for George.

I hope you enjoyed this flight, it was a trek at just over 5 hours, I can still hear the wind whistling in my ears  !

Cheers

"hope this isn't boring" Haha funny guy! Incredible flight Joe and a mammoth undertaking in such a small aircraft. It's a shame you don't post more of your full flights, id be quite happy to sit through the bordom to read them

Great stuff..

Stunning, Joe. The angle on the gear up shot has such an effect on the rest of the shot. I am glad to see you touched down safely and have the baton ready for me there. I am afraid I'm not in budapest yet, my flight got held up from Heathrow...somebody had inconveniently parked a BA 777 on the south runway  I'll see you later, I am up for a nice bit of sight-seeing before setting off! :stars:

Best Regards,

George
