Henceforth, the Download Centre will be the preferred location for accessing, viewing and downloading the airport plates. As a result, I'm locking this thread against any further posts - it will remain available for downloads, at least until such time as all the plates contained here are loaded and available at the Download Centre. At this writing about half have been ported over. Also, no newly produced plates will be added to those already in this thread - new ones will only go into the Download Centre. Be sure to visit the Mutley's Hangar Download Centre from the menu bar in the MH Forums pages and check what's there. It will get better all the time. The intent is two-fold. 1) Thanks to the good offices of our Web Host, the inimitable Mutley, who is constantly looking for value-added features for his members, this thread will become a source for home-made airport diagrams in jpg format for your down-loading pleasure. I have about a dozen I’ll prime the pump with and I hope you will add yours if and when you begin to make them for your own needs. 2) I want to offer a how-to document I’ve written for creating quick and dirty, but reasonably high quality airport diagrams for use when you can’t find what you want on the web. You can access it here… In addition, I’ll make the offer here to produce and post airport diagrams by request…with some stipulations. • I will only do this for registered MH members. • Make your request direct to me by e-mail or PM – don’t clutter up the thread with that. The links are in my profile. • Be reasonable! Don’t submit long lists or requests for geographical areas, e.g. all the airports in the Bahamas. (All the airports in Bermuda would be acceptable, however.) • I make no guarantees of timeliness – if you want one, I’ll try to do it but the if and when of it will remain my prerogative. • I reserve the right to withdraw this offer at any time. If you decide to post your own diagrams here for the use of others (bless you, my son) there are a few conventions that should be adhered to. • ALWAYS include an annotation that says “Not For Real World Navigation”. If you submit one without it, a moderator will remove it. This is necessary for your own protection as well as for Mutley’s. • Use jpg format. • Include the ICAO code, full airport name and airport city and country. You may know it on sight – others may not. • Use black and white only. As a final note, let’s keep this thread clean and un-cluttered, with just this header and a library of diagrams. To make the diagrams, I'm only using data that comes from FS itself - AFCAD for the image and the FS map data page for the rest. That has the added advantage that my diagrams look exactly like what I'm going to find when I fly in FS9. Often the on-line airport diagrams reflect new construction or other changes that have occurred since FS was published. I guess the biggest downside is that I'm not getting buildings in the image. My offer to make airport diagrams for MH members upon request still stands, but no one has asked for any. John Link to post Share on other sites

One of the most 'scary' approaches I've ever sat through(except for my own!) was into St Malo. The poor Ryanair Pilot had to land his fully laden 737-800 on a 7000ft runway. Lots of thrust changes, sinking and climbing followed by a very firm touchdown. Before boarding for our flight back to the UK, I observed the approach and landing from the terminal building. They really were slamming it down, right at the runway threshold...no messing around Edit: Just looked up specs for the 737-800, looks like St Malo's runway just meets the minimum runway length requirements :mrhappy: Link to post Share on other sites
