Neighbour just come back from Bulgaria.  Food terrible and full of Russians it seems.

A friend of mine lives out there, His sister has a farm in the middle of the country on the edge of a small village. Nearest airport is Sofia in the next country and 3 hours drive away.  He loves it, he retired out there a few years ago and is enjoying life. It's dirt cheap and the healthcare is really good. He just pays about £20 a year for the service. He's well away from all the tourist spots so never any problems.  He has a really comfortable life out there.
