dodgy-alan 1,587
Finally finished after nearly 2 months. A Venator Class Republic Star Destroyer for Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith. I've given the old girl a battle weary appearance, she's seen plenty of action and her paint has faded, but all her weopans are in good order! She's a big model as well, a little over 2 ft long, but been a real pleasure to build. Comments and critticisms welcome.

hifly 925
Excellent job Al, no wonder it months to build and paint. Revenge of the Sith? Isn't that a typo?

stu7708 244
Very nice model there Alan, and I love the paint work... If only I could paint as good as you.. then I know what I would be doing with the miniatures in the new board game I pre-ordered yesterday...
dodgy-alan 1,587
Thanks Guys, Appreciate the feedback. Am not keeping it on Earth John, she's parked in low Earth orbit waiting for some guy called Branson to get his act together and come aboard! Mark, the detailing and was was done first by making up a very thin acrylic mix of black and grey, thinned until its just a tint when applied. This was run into all the side recesses and across the rest of the hull. Then highlights were dry brushed with aluminium to give the depth of detail. The whole thing was sprayed with matt varnish that dulled the brighter colours and gave it all a faded look. the engine exhausts were painted originally with antique bronze ( again weathered with wash and varnish.)and the internal parts of the tailpipes given a matt white coat , covered with 3 coats of electric blue gloss. finally the windows were painted in with a similar electric blue and the laser cannon barralls picked oit with bronze.

markhudson6 13
Cheers Alan, a complex process and a lot of work, but well worth it judging by the results. Regards, M.

Yoda wouldn't turn anyone to the dark side. I can't get the staff you know.
hifly 925
Darth Vader spell you not correctly young Master Martin. Banished to galaxy Avsim punished will be you for an error such. Day Good. May the farce be with you.
MartinW 0
It's not my fault, I was using a Galaxy S3, and can't be arsed to buy reading glasses. In any case, I could have been referring to Darth Vada from an alternate reality. Vader is from our reality.
