allardjd 1,853
Nice shot, but you're landing downwind. John
mutley 4,498
HI Chris, There's some great close up detail of the 744, is it the PMDG? Maybe a bit of RT would add something? Cheers
wisemanp 0
I really like it. There's something not quite perfect about it but in my opinion, as a shot, it's not far off

reef 3
Nah its a still day and the fuselage draft blew the grass foreward Whats RT Joe ? :???: Looks good to me with only the sense off speed lost due to everything being in focus. Personally i would of motion blurred your added grass but thats just my opinion. Take care with your distortions as you have clipped the aircraft flaps in many places, these should be very sharp. Nice job though and something ver different. steve
1mag1n3 0
Thanks guys! And, yes steve, your explanation will do perfect!!! Joe, it is the PMDG yes, and what is RT?! Thanks again!
mutley 4,498
Thanks guys! And, yes steve, your explanation will do perfect!!! Joe, it is the PMDG yes, and what is RT?! Thanks again! Reverse Thrust?
1mag1n3 0
Ohhh! I see now Heh, yeah thats true actually joe.. Just it was so close to touchdown that it hadnt deployed yet :???: Cheers!
reef 3
As far as i know which is not very far, you apply revrerse thrust "RT" (thanks Joe) after the nose wheel was down. This being a good idea due to the possibility of slewing the aircraft if both reversers are not applied equally. steve
mutley 4,498
You are right Steve that would be the preferred way but for the sake of art it would be ok I have seen reverse applied before the nose wheel is down, particularly on short runways like this shot I took at Bournemouth. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1078 Cheers
reef 3
Ah i see, thanks Joe. Always good to know how im supposed to land :mrhappy: I should probably read more. steve
allardjd 1,853
Though Mut has certainly captured evidence of the exception, and maybe even a place where the exception is the norm, I think it is most common to get the wheels planted before reaching for RT. It probably depends a lot on how deep in the yellow the pucker-meter is. If you think about the forces involved, since the engine thrust lines are above the main gear axles, reverse thrust will create a nose-up rotational force about the axles. It's an interesting situation and I suppose you could put the nose-wheel down very gently if you finessed it a little with reverse thrust and throttles. Directional control is the real issue, of course. John
mutley 4,498
Yep sorry Steve you are not supposed to land like that. (Unless you work for Tomsonfly!!) Cheers
