J G 927
I have just finished installing a Saitek HOTAS stick and throttle. I have also just installed EZDOK and made the required changes to my key and joystick assignments. I also have FSUIPC but don't use it for my throttle. I now have an issue with my throttle that is driving me nuts. When I increase the throttle the rpm spools up as usual. However when I stop moving the throttle leaver the throttle fades back to Idle. I clearly have done something wrong with the set up in the Saitek control panel, FSUIPC and/or EZDOK but I cant see what it is! Can anyone help?
needles 1,013
Hey JG, has got some sort of self centering config. It sounds like it's returning to neutral when you ease of any forward force. Is there a setting to stop this from occurring? I know you will have already looked into this but that's all I can think off. Good luck sorting it mate.
J G 927
Thanks Brian but I have looked at things like that. I think it has something to do with a second throttle quadrant I am using for spoilers, prop/Harrier nozzle pitch and mixture thinking its still a throttle. not sure why it is behaving the way iy is though. Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
Hi John! To me it sounds as though Something Else is (also) controlling your throttle. This can happen if (for example) FSX in its infinite wisdom decides to re-map your USB hardware, so that all of a sudden you have something else demanding a throttle cut when you had thought you were moving a different axis altogether, or even using a keystroke. Watch out for the EZCA default mappings, too. Just a thought, but it might be worth checking all your control mappings, including EZCA's and the FSX ones that you *thought* you had disabled long ago.... ;-) Cheers, Bruce a.k.a. t'other Brian
Quickmarch 488
Brian solved (or at least, sent me in the right direction) with a similar comment on a previous post. Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near any reference materials, so take this advice with some caution. The file FSX.CFG (I think) has a whole section in it listing various joysticks you've hooked up in the past. In my case, I had a HOTAS, a Logitech, and an X-Box style pad hooked up at one time or another. The file that I'm remembering, had settings for each stick (and, it appears, a default mouse stick). All this as well as an FSUIPC set-up from another experiment. My problem was exactly as described, above: leftover conflicts. The solution was to rename (don't just delete it) the .CFG file and start from scratch with a new set-up. FSX re-writes the file the first time you do this, so no need to do any "programming" at all. As I said at the beginning of this post, I cannot verify anything said here for a month or so. Hopefully, someone else will ring in with the correct paths to the necessary files - there are several, scattered all over that maintain info on your stick (depending on what you have previously used) and all of them must be neutralised before starting a fresh set-up. J G 927
I found the problem, it was a conflicting control setup, removed the conflict and all is peaches and cream!
needles 1,013
Hurrah!, well done John, glad you got it sorted out. Happy flying.
Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
Well done, John: those control conflicts are a real pest when they arise. I'm glad all is well, Cheers, Brian
