Plane lands on motorway.

Not that anyone really cares, but we don't have motorways. That's a term from your side of the pond.

Ah but John, freeways is a bit of a misnomer as I remember a lot of them being toll roads.

Toll roads are not referred to as freeways here - those are typically "Turnpikes", "Tollways", "Parkways" or some such.  Freeways normally only describe the Federal Interstates, (e.g. I-75, I-4, I-95 and I-10 in our vicinity) which are "free" by law and are built largely with federal money.  The nearest toll road to us is the Florida Turnpike.

"Expressway" is the most generic term in common use here and can refer to either freeways or tollways.

I have literally never heard "motorway" used here, ever.

In the UK we call them, "crazy lorry, tailgating idiot, company rep, maniac lane changer, white van nutter man roads." Its a long name, but very appropriate.

Bloody good piloting I say. How he swerved at that speed without loosing control was impressive.

Some might say he should have gone elsewhere, risking his life instead of road users, but the outcome was good so who cares.

You're an awesome white van man Wain.

Just unfortunate that we often encounter the dodgy ones. Like any profession the bad ones give the occupation a bad name.

It's bloody tailgating that angers me. It's like some people are so dim that they are oblivious to the concept of stopping distance.

Round by my its teenage girls that seem the worst.

Tailgaters at merge points are the worst. Wondering why it is such a mess at merge points...because morons don't allow merging in their selfish need to get "ONE more car ahead".

I have been working on a stand up routine regarding bad drivers...it is pretty easy to write...it is mostly Fbombs. :D :D :D

In the UK all roads are given a number So the A1 will be a fast road of dual or single carriageway where the M1 will be a motorway that goes in the same direction as the A1. There is one exception to the descriptor "Motorways" and that is the M25.There is no real A  road that follows its course which is effectively a wide ring around London This road has an M prefix but is known as a car park.
