pjl953 41
Great shots, and nice to see the close up of the Hercules, which I get flying over my house several times most days, along with C17s and A330 MRTTs.
petermcleland 48
Great show, Peter. Thanks for posting them. John Thanks John,In answer to your previously posted question, here is some text that I have posted in answer to that elsewhere:- In the Hunter you can use flaps in flight up to 38 degrees but you should keep the speed below 300 knots or 0.90M. In our formation aerobatic team we did the whole display with 20 degrees of flap...It gave more aerodynamic bite at the higher altitudes...I also did all the Solo display aerobatics in Kenya and I did not use the flap because I did some very high speed stuff and also some negative G stuff and I did not want to keep having to change the flaps settings during my display. However, I used to be able to fly a circle inside the crater of Ol Longonot volcano in the Venoms but when we changed to the Hunter I had to use 20 degrees of flap to do the same thing. Regards, Peter McLeland. Sent from my iPad Further to my previous:- This picture shows him with about 20 degrees of flap and he is not going in the direction he is pointing...He is mushing downwards towards impact. I think he is also going pretty slowly...about 130 knots...Maybe he flamed out at some stage in the loop. BTW the video showed it as a very high loop...much higher than I ever did! We did all our formation aeros displays with that flap setting and in the Kilimanjaro loop picture this is clearly visible:-
