dodgy-alan 1,587
Marie and I spent the day playing with steam trains yesterday. Had a wonderful day out and the weather was perfect. I took a lot of photos which I thought I'd share with you guys. Ok it's not aeroplane related but I thought you may like to see them. Admins, if you don't want them on here then feel free to delete. This is a big file so best viewed on a PC rather than a phone. I've also included a couple of edits. Hope you enjoy the ride...... Thanks for viewing
hifly 925
Nice ones Al, have to admit I like the old kettles, in fact I'm a train simmer too. Looks like you and Marie had a good day out.

Captain Coffee 2,030
Nice shots. Looks like a fun day. I used to draw steam and diesel locos for a tshirt shop, then as independent artist. Still being ripped of for unpaid royalties by one company in fact... Being an artist can really suck the creativity out of a person sometimes... One thing that struck me drawing those old steam beasties particularly is the sense that the engineers didn't approach their design chores with a "How little steel can we use and still get the job done" mentality. Those things were built to outlive the age of steam for sure.
needles 1,013
Great shots Al' looks like you had a great day out.
Quickmarch 488
Fantastic shots, Alan. It's wonderful to see that someone is still keeping these historic machines alive. Here in Canada, there is almost no steam equipment running for lack of qualified operators. I guess a career as a "navvy" just isn't attractive to the younger generation. hurricanemk1c 195
Great shots Alan. Prefered the diesels myself
brett 2,316
Great collection of shots during your day out Alan. Pennsylvania has a rich history of trains also and has many museums scattered about but they lack the quaintness of your towns, enjoyed to look. Note: If you do not feel comfortable posting so many images you can just post a couple of them and then post a link to a created album of the remaining ones.
J G 927
Great shots Alan. I grew up with steam engines as my dad joined the Great Western Society when it was first formed at Didcot. GWR was his passion, he was a keen model maker like you. He built 20 or so O gauge GWR locos out of brass. I have visited the railway you have pictured above many times as it is only 20 minutes drive south of me. Edited March 27, 2017 by J G
