wisemanp 0
So here we are! Called to action, I jumped on the next plane to Sweden to see what I could do in the way of entertaining you all, as well as gettin gthe baton to Austria. I hope this will suffice! Sorry there are no maps or diagrams included but i thought i'd get the shots up ASAP as the leg is late. So, we start in Skavsta, near the Swedish coast of the Baltic Sea. I managed to contact Austrian Airlines, and they sent out a Fokker 70 for me to use. I think it looks really good! The best part about this flight was the timing... I took off around 14:00 UTC, meaning a lovely sunset this far north! Our aircraft sits on the tarmac, ready to go. There are a few jets and some GA around in this crisp (somewhat an understatement) winter's evening. Crossing the other runway here as we head to 34 Creeping down the taxiway Here we are, final checks, ready to go Rotating, the baton leaves Scandinavian ground She gracefully soars away from the runway Sun amazing sun and cloud here! Banking all the way round towards our initial westerly heading Now above the cloud, we finish our turn, bound for Austria Beautiful sunset! That ground looks covered with its winter blanket. This sort of flying just makes you want to be a RW pilot! Wow, I think were my words. # Still climbing, cruise is at FL310 today Lots of lakes! Coming down towards the sea, last few miles of Sweden The Danish island of Bornholm Sky, sun and sea That's the only piece of Denmark we'll see, as we near Germany. Down there is Peedemunde, which I believe was a WWII V1 and V2 factory. Now over northern Germany, there doesn't seem much traffic on this Sunday evening Still heading into that sunset, because we're flying south, it doesn't seem to end! Coming down towards Dresden... ...when... The darrrn computer crashed :doh :mrhappy: I fired it up again, but for some reason I couldn't get the sunset back... so I will go straight to the night shots, we're now over Bavaria, east of Munich. This bird looks good at night aswell! Our last turn before we descend. Having overflown Innsbruck, we descend rapidly over the Stubaital, where I stayed this summer, whilst turning east. In view is the Brenner Pass, the lowest of the transalpine passes. The Brenner valley, this place being Steinach I believe Now we reach the Inn valley, around the town of Schwaz, with the airport visible down the valley. Coming in over Innsbruck itself, this is an exhilerating approach, with mountains higher than me on each side! Touching down, had to be early on the runway as it's not the biggest in the world. Nose gear still to come down, the mountains high above Seefeld tower above us There is a heavy fog rolling down the valley from Oetztal and Landeck. It's a good job we landed when we did, it would be impossible now! Nearing the gate, our journey its close to its end. Fly Nikki and Monarch populate the Innsbruck terminal this evening. Thanks for viewing! Hope you enjoyed...It could have been better...but I'll save my masterpiece for later in the challenge! Cya'all later.
