What's happend to the Just Flight forum?!

Unfortunately whilst carrying out some roadworks near our work, the council managed to cut through one of our fibre-cables! So basically everything has been knocked out...

The engineers are digging up that section of the road again today to fix the cable

Thanks

The good old british construction industry.

Similar happened to me a few months ago when some clever person cut through the underground cable for our phone line. The very english (!) call centre agent at talk talk advised me that I would have to pay to have it put right.

Oh yes Rob, shortly after we moved into our house [a new build] the builders sliced the cable in half.

We've had cables cut that have affected us many times over the years.

I suppose we can't blame them, cables are frequently not where they are supposed to be according to the plans.

Buried cables on our power plant property had a 4" wide bright-yellow poly ribbon (similar to police-line barrier tape, but said "Buried Cable") buried a couple of feet above the cable. It's not a silver bullet when the guy on the back-hoe is a little too enthusiastic or doesn't have a proper "questioning attitude", but saved us from problems more than once.

Of course some of those cables were 12KV standby power sources for plant loads, so you really didn't want anyone betting his life that the circuit breaker could open before his heart stopped, or before he became a large puff of smoke and a small cinder.
