Competition time! - Guess the Airport

Recommended Posts

That's odd John, I had already scoured Scotland hence the EG comment, I had come across Perth (Scone) ICAO EGPT? and as usual when looking for airports in this quiz I am not on my FS PC so cannot confirm it visually.

I can't see any others that fit the bill if I am wrong perhaps David will find it :mrhappy:

Mut,

Perth/Scone it is! Exactly right. Did I say something confusing?

Not sure how you can do this without FS. I use the Go To Airport database and the map feature extensively when searching for an airport.

Anyway, you have it.  I almost choked at your early mention of McDonalds. I'm sure you wouldn't have to look too far in Perth to find that surname, though probably not under the golden arches.

Very good work. I think that one was a little more difficult than the Shuttle landing strip. I thought planting one under your noses after KSFO was a good idea.

Thanks John I enjoyed it, I don't think you said anything confusing in retrospect but I got a but confused by the longitude calculation and I think I got a bit hung up on that :mrhappy:

.. Though until the narrowing of the latitude range it would have been very difficult!

I will think of one today and post it later,

Cheers

Hi David,

I wouldn't go that far with the cryptic element :mrhappy:

Also I said not so long ago as opposed to recent, that's if you consider within the last 50 years not so long ago, that was a bit mis-leading , sorry. I bet they wish they had the herk then

Also, wrong hemisphere (Major clue!!)

True enough Phil.

The airport is named after a public holiday in this country.

Airport Elevation 74m (242ft)

Here is a picture of some of the currency

Does that :mrhappy: :?:

Well done Sam, you are definitely on the ball there!

Public holiday = Feb 4 Start of Liberation War.

Airport is Luanda - 4 de Fevereiro Airport (LAD/FNLU) in Angola.

Do you fancy posting the next one? Please??

Cheers

The only airport i can think of with 36/18 is Riga in Latvia. But its not becuse that only has termianls on one side, this airport seemingly has them on both.

Of course i just had a brainwave.

The company that shot that photo...based in IL, USA.

So its Miegs Filed, Chicago.
