Around the IOW

Recommended Posts

I downloaded Just Flight's VFR Real for the IOW the other night.

I can say that I am suitably impressed. This morning I took the Shockwave Spitfire out of EGHH for a little sight seeing.

What you are seeing here is-

FSX

Shockwave Spitfire Mk1

Just Flight VFR Real Scenery IOW edition.

Active Sky X for real world weather.

X graphics for cloud, sea, sky and sun textures.

After completing the walk around and visual check I'm now sat in the cockpit, props clear!

vfr01.jpg

The mighty Merlin kicks up the dust!

vfr02.jpg

After manoeuvring to the active, the tail wheel has been locked. After 80kts we drifted off the tarmac.

vfr03.jpg

Hood closed, gear up.

vfr04.jpg

The coast is never far away from Bournemouth, ASX has just finished updating the Wx.

vfr05.jpg

Flying low trying to keep under the mist but it is patchy and closing in.

vfr06.jpg

The Needles is in my sights!

vfr07.jpg

Just planning my arrival manoeuvre.

vfr08.jpg

An inverted climb was in order, great detail from the scenery JF

vfr09.jpg

Oooh was that the light house?

vfr10.jpg

Heading inland and East.

vfr11.jpg

Just taking in the beautiful scenery of dear old Blighty.

vfr12.jpg

Back out to the South coast.

vfr13.jpg

Around the headland, the mist is getting worse.

vfr14.jpg

Sandown pier in the background, heading inland again.

vfr15.jpg

EGHN in site, coming in for a low pass.

vfr16.jpg

A bit of daisy cutting, then..

vfr17.jpg

..back up to 1500

vfr18.jpg

Rounding the Westernmost point just past Bembridge.

vfr19.jpg

Now heading West up the Solent.

vfr20.jpg

That's Ryde pier ahead on the opposite side of the Solent to Portsmouth.

vfr21.jpg

Osborne house to the left, the once home to Queen Victoria!

vfr22.jpg

Newport and the river Medina behind us.

vfr23.jpg

That looks like a running track?

vfr24.jpg

The Needles appear again in the distance.

vfr25.jpg

Lining her up, just about to pass Alum Bay where the multicoloured sands can be seen.

vfr26.jpg

Through the gap in the rocks.. YES

vfr27.jpg

Pulling up and back around to the North.

vfr28.jpg

That was great fun, thanks JF!

vfr29.jpg

Bournemouth is now back in my sites ready, I'm off to park up for another day.

vfr30.jpg

I hope you enjoyed this site seeing visit. Please fly Mutley's Hangar again soon!

Cheers

Thanks Joe for the JF review and for letting me remember summer holidays spent in Bonchurch (east of Ventnor) - of fish'n'chip dinners, mystery bus tours(always to Blackgang Chine!) and bl**dy freezing swimming. There I go again, showing my age - I said 'there I......' etc.

Cheers - Dai.

great stuff. Its interesting how those who were originally 100% Hoprizon are starting to love Just Flights offerings. IOM looks extremely nice to fly over.

Wait until they see volume 3, aye Fred? :mrhappy:
