hello_basil 0
Hey Chaps, I'm contemplating the move to FSX in the very near future and am wondering whether this current setup will hold it steady until I buy a C2D/Q? Pentium 4 3.4GHz (Prescott) "Costa Rica" Asus P5N-E SLI 2GB OCZ PC6400 "Special Ops" BFG 8600GT 256MB (OC) X-Fi Soundcard Scythe Kama-Cross Now, when I use FS9 I get reasonable FPS, locked @ 24.9 without any jaggies - my next investment for my PC will be C2D/Q, meaning a step-up to Dual if not Quad Core....will the Prescott hold the Barracks until then? :?: Cheers, Theo :mrhappy:
mutley 4,498
I reckon that will do fine Theo, FSX is so much better with SP1, there's SP2 along within 3 to 6 weeks (probably) introducing the DX10 upgrade and possibly other tweaks to DX9 and bug fixes. Also they are releasing the FSX Acceleration to Beta soon (For DX9) look here for official expansion pack trailer http://dev.fsinsider.com/news/Pages/Acc ... ailer.aspx So yes, get it but wait a few weeks :mrhappy: Cheers
mulletman 0
Shifted this one over to hardware...as its more based around that. Im not much of a hrdware nut, but i agree with mutters, you might want to wait a couple of weeks. Most important things though would be processor, Graphics card, Ram. In that order. reef 3
I actually started with FSX and then stepped back to FS9. I had no problem for most of the time unless you like autogen. Heathrow would give maybe 7fps with no autgen on but somewhere like cardiff 20+ fps. At the moment my rig is a amd 4800+ 64X2 with 7900 GTX and 2GB Ram. I usually have both FSX and FS9 installed as FSX is good for GA flying but a bit harsh near bigger airports. With the price of FSX down to £17 i would just run both for a while. I can't see me moving from FS9 as the sheer quantity of good addons and good frames keep me interested. Steve
mutley 4,498
Reef, I do agree with you there. It's nice to be able to run the sim at full pelt and still have a decent frame rate. Cheers
