mutley 4,497
Welcome back, pt1 could not have been that bad if you are here! As you saw, the ASI went kerput on our flight down here from Stornoway. So I was immediately on the phone to my mate Omar Baba to call in a favour. He has an A320 we can hijack, it was originally destined for Malaga but Omar said we could take the controls and pop into Mutley Field on the way. In the terminal and on the net the passengers were getting worried, let alone confused. Would this cost them more? Obviously, with a celebrity baton on board the answer should be yes! With our competitors all around we were next after the EZY to Brissol Whilst we are waiting, the safety announcements are made. EZY just starting it's roll Ever ready, we line up. Now we are rolling with a mixture of screaming and "Y viva España" coming from the cabin, (Singer and date, two points) We're on runway heading 07, we need to be heading south 160º according to our plan, yes we have one. Next up, a bumpy stage turning and climbing through the cloud, at this point an announcement is made "If you require a sickbag then please signal the flight attendant and have £2.75 £2.95 ready" As far as we are concerned, it's AP on, that's our job over until the landing! so out comes the iPad to play X-Plane for a while. Our initial altitude was only 8000 so we asked for FL120 to get above most of the cloud as it was spilling our coffee. Levelling off, on track to fly over the Angel of the North. Angel below!! Yes it was, a rusty thing, see my post in the screenshot forum. The sun glistens on the wings. ..And all is good. Except now for the sake of a better post we decide to come back down below the clouds for a little competition. Enjoy the light show, you asked for it! First land mark is? No I don't know either. This one is too easy being East Midlands airport. This is an old airport totally packed with cars, any ideas? Another storm ahead. I wouldn't like to have been on the end of that strike Oxford methinks? The lightning has us in a pincer movement now so full ahead through the middle. Ah that's better we are through it just patchy cloud and rain now. Pretty close, we had taken a slight diversion to get around the storm. Intercepting the localiser. The passengers are getting restless, this isn't Malaga! Nope, Mutley Field ahead (Southampton EGHI) and I am getting excited about the end of our challenge! This approach is so familiar to me and all the Hangarian's who fly from Mutley Field as only 02 has ILS Over the railway sheds..... Threshold (Just look at that positioning!!) Easing her down, by the way sorry for so many landing shots but I had FS Recorder running. Splashdown right in line with the Hangar! (Behind nose wheel) Urgh, short runway, extend everything and reversers Rolling past the terminal and the FlyBe boys (Nice Logo!) There she is, the trusty old Hangar, our final destination. Parked up, the Malaga passengers are still aboard waiting for us to finish celebrating, it could be some time! Welcome home and thanks to Omar Baba who without, this final flight would not have been possible. All shots, except the last are unedited such is the quality of add-ons nowadays, addons used: Just Flight A320 Jet Liner, Flylo livery by Mutley Generation X photo scenery Earth Simulations Treescapes UK2000 airports / Mutleys Hangar by Mutley/Eaglesoft REX2 Overdrive Active Sky Evolution Ultimate Traffic 2 Thanks to everyone involved, what a challenge it was! needles 1,013
Brilliant Joe, I loved the flight information sheet. Also the rapper was very good although that's not normally my sort of thing but he pulled it off perfectly. Light show was great too. They seem to be getting better at lightning strike detailing. Welcome back to the Hanger, ATWCIII was a blast. Can't wait for the next idea to come along. Well done everyone. Cheers & Regards Brian

SEATAC 400
This was a great ATWC, made possible by all of the pilots, their flying skills and their great story telling abilities and by the generositiy of Joe, for making it all possible with this website that we all spend so much time enjoying. But now, sadly, it is has come to an end. When do we start ATWC IV?
