Don't Ever Pre Order a Game from Play.com

Recommended Posts

Tiger woods 12 due Friday - thought I'd preorder to save £5 on Game's usual release day prices, and a free course.

Not here yet. Not happy.

Moreover, in Morrisons today - ~Sunday - they're flogging it for 35 notes !

Jeeze.

I used play once before to order a CD for fathers day. It turned up 2 months late. I actually thought that they had gone out of business because I couldn't contact anyone there. It took my credit card company to contact them before anything got sorted

I'm there all morning Friday and Saturday, with my head stuck out the window, singing that damn Carpenters song - No Gabe, nothing in my bag for you today - except bills.

I'll do it all again tomorrow.

Never again.

I used to swear by (not at) Play.com a few years ago - they were excellent.

Then they went downhill.

I've had to set consumer direct on them.

They just ain't no good no more.

I would still use them if no-one else has it, but that's all.

I've heard not many people use TW Online, as no-one wants to pay for it, so they all use the 'freebies' each week.

Is this still the case ?

The 360 verison is excellent. For the first time ever, they've actually anti-aliased the game on consoles. It is very nice indeed. New graphics engine etc. and decent commentary for a change.

The create a face feature is state of the art, and is probably being used by international police agencies as we speak ! :icon_blahblah:

Only problem, is that they have dumbed it down and introduced a very controversial caddie.

If the last game oyu had was 08's PC version, I thoroughly recommend it... although you need to do a lot of grinding to get your stats up if you want to play online.

To be honest it's been a long while since I played a round. In fact so long that I had forgotten my password when I tried to log in to check for statistics on logged in users at the moment.

Couldn't find any stats once I got in, but back last summer when I played quite a few rounds it was fairly crowded on the courses, even on the courses that were "Members only". And considering the number of players that have managed to max out their levels I'd say there's a good number of paying users.

As for myself I bought a one year subscription some time last spring, and considering that the cost per year is lower than what you had to pay to get the new PC version every year I'd say it's pretty good value for your money. And even more so considering that you get constant updates and new courses added every other month. And the graphics and preformance are in my opinion top notch for a online game.
