wisemanp 0
Hi All!! It's been a while, I hope you are all keeping well...I'm back for the summer now, thought I'd share with you something I did during the period between exams and results. (Yes, it wasn't all alcohol consumption...) I did the 3 Peaks Challenge with the University's charities committee, raising a good total for Teesdale and Weardale Mountain Rescue Service. For those who don't know, the 3 Peaks Challenge is when one climbs the highest mountain in each of Scotland, England and Wales - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon respectively, within 24 hours. Unfortunately, due to various injuries in the group on Ben Nevis and Scafell, we didn't manage it, although an 84 minute ascent of Snowdon via the Pyg Track by me and a friend meant we were at the top of Snowdon well within 24 hours, but in the driving rain and howling wind could not risk such a rapid descent. Anyhow, here is a link to the album! Hope you enjoy.

GabethePilot 1
Try sliding down the railway track on Snowdon 'cos it's all iced-over... in January... that's an adventure ! :001_th_smiles48: But, I gotta say I'm impressed with 90 minutes to the top - takes me 2 1/2 hours on a GOOD day... when the batteries on my Zimmer frame are charged up !!! Well done. 3-peaks is hard beast indeed. :icon_thumbup: Hope you got lots of sponsorship cash for us oldies at "Age Concern"... :icon_yikes:

hurricanemk1c 195
Welcome back Phil! Some of those shots are stunning - just love the colour! I remember reading in one magazine (Modern Railways, August 2010) that they did a small piece on this challenge. 10 Railway businesses teamed up to do it for the Railway Children charity. They travelled by Class 67 and Cargo-D's rake of coaches. They made over £140000! Anyway, that 81 min ascent sounds fast!
ddavid 149
Glad you've been 'let out'! Just in time for the Tour - good timing, eh? Great pics - Well Done on the PYG Ascent. Like Gabe, last time I did the PYG, Pam and I took nearly 3 hours to get up and another 3 to get back via Y Lliwedd. 84 minutes - phew! Hope the course went well - I guess you're looking forward to next term... Oh, yes, Welcome Back! Cheers - Dai.

wisemanp 0
Cheers guys! Kieran - Wish we'd had a 67, thrashing it down Lakeland lanes in a minibus at 2.30am was an experience! Dai - The Pyg ascent was pretty crazy and included some running on flatter sections. Not to mention it being the coldest I've ever been! Wiggo's chances in the Tour? Maybe soon I'll get a chance to fire the old FS up and get something in the Screenshot section...
