Jefferson County to Darrington Muni

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I could only get this post down to 29 shots.

Taking a student from 0S9 to 1S2 in Washington state in the Cessna 162, not bad for a first flight, note the cross-wind as we approach the mountain pass!

We're just talking through the route.

0S9-1S2002.jpg

And looking at it on the Garmin GTX300, not a bad bit of kit for a microlight or "Sport Trainer" as they call it.

0S9-1S2003.jpg

Taxiing to the active, anyone who has flown here knows there is a one-way system.

0S9-1S2004.jpg

Half a mile later, still on our way as a ghostly King Air takes off.

0S9-1S2005.jpg

At last

0S9-1S2006.jpg

Cleared to go.

0S9-1S2007.jpg

Gaining altitude, there is noise abatement so not full power after the initial roll and rotate

0S9-1S2008.jpg

Switch our mate the Garmin AP on, an immediate response!

0S9-1S2009.jpg

Towards 80WA

0S9-1S2011.jpg

Over the top

0S9-1S2015.jpg

Now lining up for our next way-point

0S9-1S2017.jpg

Heading out over the bay/harbour

0S9-1S2022.jpg

Looking out for a visual reference at the entrance to the valley, George is still in control.

0S9-1S2026.jpg

Heading straight for a manual way-point we entered in the flight plan

0S9-1S2028.jpg

Not that far now we have a tail-wind (On occasion)

0S9-1S2029.jpg

Here you can see that we are having to point into the wind to stay on track, getting blown almost sideways by the wind!

0S9-1S2034.jpg

Nicely back on track

0S9-1S2038.jpg

Definitely getting colder with the patchy snow around

0S9-1S2039.jpg

Fly-past shot

0S9-1S2042.jpg

Another way point hit turning down-wind

0S9-1S2044.jpg

The town ahead

0S9-1S2045.jpg

Turning before hit the mountain

0S9-1S2046.jpg

On final

0S9-1S2048.jpg

Quite a good landing by Sharon!

0S9-1S2051.jpg

I can see a few chimneys smoking, happy to be down and safe.

0S9-1S2052.jpg

In our space, going through our shut-down checks with a few locals looking on.

0S9-1S2055.jpg

Cold and dark (The aircraft) we are in the clubhouse for a stomach-busting burger a la Jack!

0S9-1S2056.jpg

Thanks for getting to the end of my post!

Cheers!

Joe

Ah! "Jefferson County airport" I'll pop that one one Sabre's shopping list for next month :D .

Very nice shot's Joe :thum:

Have been toying with the idea of getting one of those airports myself before the sale end's, just can't make up my mind ATM though, and then again, I like the look of Anacortes as well :wacko2: will have to have a word with Sabre to find out which one I will be buying ;) .

BTW: that little Cessna looks good, have liked the glass cockpits ever since I bought the Kodiak a few months ago :).

Cheer's...

Hi Graham,

I think, for you both, Anacortes would be really good to get, I got it in the sale along with this one, it probably has more features than Jefferson with the refinery and the bridge to fly under.

I would get them before the sale finishes otherwise you will regret it!

Cheers....Joe

Sold! to the man with the funny Gingery hair and leather flying helmet "LOL" :D;)

TBH I can't find Sabre anywhere :( but just incase he pops into this thread, PanzerFodder is now the owner of Anacortes airport, it's only a short distance for Orcas so there could be some real fun to be had around this area in the Thunderbolts :)

BOT: Thanks for push Joe, I really could not make my mind up about what to get next, (so many airports and so close together, it would be good if Orbx started to bring out airports for other parts, like the NRM and CRM scenery areas, coz then the choices would be easier to make ;) ).

Cheer's...Graham...

Fantastic shots Joe, super scenery and a very nice little aircraft.

Thanks also for the guiding hand on which other airfileds to purchase in the big sale. I do have to keep Graham in check but the Christmas money might just stretch to another couple.

Those bug splats crack me up; however, that scenery is magnificent.

I have a 63-leg tour to enjoy in the New Year of which the majority is within the Orbx coverage area and I am totally looking forward to seeing some of the airfields I have not yet visited. No glass cockpit for me though-I am too far in love with the 337 :D .

Great images too!

Hi Max

Perhaps it's time for an upgrade soon?!

Thanks for your kind comments.

Cheers, Joe

Hi Joe,

indeed you´re right. But therefore is a lot to upgrade... and it´ll cost a lot of money. First i prefer one i7 990X, hehe...and not to forget the things around.. :stars:

it´s going on..cheers, Max.
