brett 2,316
I do John but it has a very distinctive canopy that would give it away. Let me see what I can do. (btw it fits two for training purposes)

dodgy-alan 1,587
The Sipa S.300 looked like something out of the Jetsons! http://1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions/Braas/8315.jpg
brett 2,316
Well done Alan, the aircraft was France's first built from scratch jet for training purposes. Only one was made and after crashing the project was um....scraped. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIPA_S.300 Over to you Alan.....
dodgy-alan 1,587
Thanks Brett, Ok guys and gals, try this one....
Quickmarch 488
Yikes! This is a few sq ft of an aircraft, is it? Turbine exhaust? Not a DHC8. Lots of turbine powered aircraft to research.

J G 927
Looks Military to me, and looking at it I would say that it is an exhaust we can see rather than an intake. Jet? It seems to be a wing root twin engine with no tail exhaust , so not that modern.
allardjd 1,853
I agree that it's an exhaust - rusty intakes are seldom seen - or maybe it's heat-discolored stainless steel. In either case, it's an exhaust. The non-symmetrical nature also suggests a turboprop, not a jet. I'm not adding anything new here, just agreeing with what's already been said by others. Not a clue on this one, though the colors suggest military - or maybe an old NW Airlines or US Air livery. John
dodgy-alan 1,587
Clue, It is a well known aircraft, though not normally seen in this colour.
J G 927
That boxy fuselage looks like a Shorts I agree, but the exhaust of almost all boxy are under the wing, which this one isnt
dodgy-alan 1,587
Not a Shorts guys, way off the mark i'm afraid.
Andrew Godden 945
Just to mix it up a bit, I will throw in a red herring - Tu-22M.
Quickmarch 488
Sounds like that one might Backfire, Andrew. You think it's an intake? Doesn't look boxy enough for the Tupolev. However there were lots of variations on that aircraft.
Andrew Godden 945
True John, but what looks like a little square window is very reminiscent of the WSO's window on the Tu-22M. The angles are slightly wrong for possible engine intakes on the 22M, but as I said, it was a red herring.
allardjd 1,853
I could be all wet, but I'm still hanging my hat on the color being wrong for an intake. That appears to be rusted steel or heat- affected stainless steel, neither of which would be likely in an intake duct. Still, if it's Russian, it could be made of most anything. Andrew Godden 945
John A, I'm definitely not certain by any stretch of the imagination. You make excellent points about what looks like rusted steel and my guess is very much out of left field.
