Dizzy 0
Not a twin otter. Here's another clue, its used to train people to fly, and the colour is an other clue.
dodgy-alan 1,587
Valmet Vinka ?
Dizzy 0
nope. ok here's another picture to help you out.
Quickmarch 488
I'm inclined not to reply because I'm going to have the devil's own time posting a new one from the boonies of Cambodia (unless they have some interesting stuff hanging around the airport). Can I supply a hint? - you give it lots of rope to go flying, manufacturing owned by a helicopter company - (I seem to remember - made in NY) Cheers, March
dodgy-alan 1,587
I'm guessing its a glider or sailplane of some sort, I'll have to go through my directory to find out which one>>>>>Ah yes, would it happpen to be a Schweizer SGS 2-33 by any chance?
brett 2,316
Looks like it could be the winning guess Alan. I wasted lots of time looking at seaplanes and didn't even think of a glider. Now that I look closer it doesn't really have a concave bow as most do. Need to remember to look before I leap. Good job.
Dizzy 0
Alan you are correct. It is a SGS 2-33A. The Royal Canadian Air Cadets own 1/10th of all the SGS 2-33's ever made. And a lot of young adults get thier very first flight in one, and a lucky few will even get to learn to fly them. I learned to fly this way. It's a super easy aircraft to fly very forgiving. And I could tell some stories
dodgy-alan 1,587
Sounds like you had fun. There were similar tales from our Air Cadets that flew the open cockpit Slingsby Sedberghs. On one occasion a freind of mine was grounded for a month after he and his instructor wizzed passed the control tower whilst standing up and saluting as they passed! anyway, Have a go at this one! Dizzy 0
I'm not to sure if thats a nose or a tail.

brett 2,316
I found it but it was by nefarious means, so I will bow out of this one.

dodgy-alan 1,587
I deliberately left them like that to give people half a chance as this is such an obscure aircraft. Ok it sounds like 3 of you know what this one is called, so let's have an awnser !
hurricanemk1c 195
Right, I'll say out, but it's a development of the Me-
allardjd 1,853
I can't ID the first photo but that main gear and weapon pod sure looks like the B-58 Hustler.... John
brett 2,316
Republic XF-91 Thunderceptor A few different designs were adapted on it's nose and tail during it's development. Well done Alan, that was a tough one. I think it should be your turn again, you deserve it.
dodgy-alan 1,587
It is indeed The Republic XF91 Thunderceptor, to be more precise it was the 2nd prototype, the first one had a single nose inlet like the F 84 Thunderjet from which it was derived.
dodgy-alan 1,587
OK Guys thanks, Have a go at this one then.. Hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult.
