allardjd 1,853
No, that's better than anything they have. This is a screenshot from a very widely publicized news video a while back. I'm surprised it didn't ring a bell with anyone yet. John

allardjd 1,853
Bingo - Kenya it is - exactly. Here's a link to the video - you have to watch this... Note the ailerons or flaps or whatever they are, behind and below the trailing edges of the wing. http://www.flixxy.co...lt-airplane.htm John

allardjd 1,853
From the details I've been able to glean from the videos, there's an awful lot of steel in that thing and precious little aluminum. brett 2,316
I thought the guy arc welding with no face shield of any kind was novel... John Hehe, who needs a face shield when you can just open and close your eyes. For anyone that has ever welded in the past knows, headaches and long lasting spots in front of the eyes are in his cards for the day(blindness to follow with repeated abuse). If that things gets off the ground under it's own power I will be pleasantly surprised and also leery that it would be another faked video. I am happy for him though and glad that he is following his dreams in what looks like a sadly impoverished part of the world. If I was rich I would send him a home built kit. Doesn't seem fair since all I did was Google "home built aircraft video" and there it was, but I guess I'm up next. Give me a bit to find one and I will be back.

brett 2,316
Good guess looking at a picture of one but it is not correct, sorry. The eyes have indeed deceived you
allardjd 1,853
Hmmm - I thought he had it. It looks narrow enough to be a tandem cockpit but has a center post - not many are going to fit into that. Maybe not tandem at all, but if not that suggests it's larger than it appears. Maybe not the front of the cockpit at all??? It almost looks like the overlap of the next section back goes the wrong way. I really don't have a clue. John
brett 2,316
It is the front of the cockpit John and I will perhaps answer your other concerns, as hints, if no one gets it right away. For an added hint I will say that the aircraft is modeled in flight sim if that helps.
allardjd 1,853
I may be wrong about the center post - that could be the other side of the first frame, seen through the window. T-6 Texan/SNJ/Harvard?

brett 2,316
Hey, even a wild guess will sometimes hit the mark. Hint: This is not a plane that ever went into production as far as I know so I would put it in the experimental category.
allardjd 1,853
Hmm, not in production but modeled in FS - now that's interesting - can't be all that many of them. John

brett 2,316
Northrop XP56 I'm sorry but that is incorrect Alan Looking at the aircraft I can see a slight resemblance to the cockpit. Someone noted that my entry of the Curtiss AT-9 was ugly but I might say that the XP56 gives it a run for the money in that department.
