dodgy-alan 1,587
The way that thing is laid out, I just hope the pilot wears tight pants otherwise he'll get nutered!
brett 2,316
Odd looking sleek number you picked there Paul.
hurricanemk1c 195
There was a fighter version proposed but that too never got into production. I posted this aircraft quite a while ago, and Alan found a FS2004 model of it
brett 2,316
Really Chuck, doesn't look like fighter material.
Quickmarch 488
It would have given most of the Second World War fighters a serious runoff their money.
dodgy-alan 1,587
It would have been too light for a fighter, remember the stresses for a straight line racing aircraft are completely different to that of a fighter. It was made to be a lightweight aircraft. By the time armour and guns had been added to it the advantage would have been lost. The cockpit would be very vulnerable as well. Rearward vision would be useless and the propshaft running through the middle would do some serious damage it it was hit and became unstable. This debate regarding this aircraft has been going on on a Facebook thread for some time.
Ruzzo 59
Yes, it is the Bugatti 100.
brett 2,316
It's a pretty plane, I wouldn't mind talking it up for a spin.

dodgy-alan 1,587
someone going to launch a new topic then?
Quickmarch 488
Oops! Am I in trouble, then? My earlier hint was supplied in the hope that others might find the aircraft. I knew what it was immediately and was hoping to keep the thread alive without jumping on it. If the lot of you would like me to supply a new aircraft, I'll do so. Please let me know if that's where we want to go.
allardjd 1,853
It looks like Ruzzo gets to post the next one - he's the first to have named it. John
Quickmarch 488
I think Paul (Ruzzo) posted it.
allardjd 1,853
I think he's going to have to post another. No one named it before he did. Several obviously knew what it was but were laying in the weeds. John
Quickmarch 488
Good point!

allardjd 1,853
Looks a lot like a Grumman but the gear is wrong. John
brett 2,316
Some were built as tail draggers too.

brett 2,316
No, sorry Alan. One of its family members was a somewhat popular STOL aircraft.
J G 927
All these civilian GA aircraft look the same to me!
brett 2,316
True, but the ones you make yourself always seem to be extra special. I always look at the windows and tails to try and find a match.
brett 2,316
Would Canada narrow it down some.
