Tim_A 997
By the power of Greyskull Skype, I've finally got X-Plane to a state where it's mostly controllable (although there are still some control glitches). Anyhow, a quick trip, EGBB to EGTN: We're approximately over Wellesbourne, heading South. In the distance you can see Long Crendon and the Cotswold hills Looking down at Wellsbourne Approaching EGTN.The road is the A44, somewhat busier than usual, and the traffic is all travelling on the wrong side of the road! I've highlighted the runway with an arrow. Actually the dark streak is North Side Grass; the tarmac runway is much harder to make out. Final for 08. You can see North Side Grass on the left (remember this is the defat airfield!) Short final. The painted runway is correctly positioned in the southern half of the tarmac, although the markings are not quite accurate. Also the runway numbers are reversed! This is on the end of the 26 runway, looking up the 'hump' towards the painted threshold. This is pretty accurate!
hurricanemk1c 195
Looks reasonable good - although it could be better in terms of a building or two on the airfields
mutley 4,498
Thanks for the insight Tim. The sloping runways are a big bonus, a couple of inexcusable errors though with the runway numbers being reversed and the traffic on the wrong side of the road! From a piloting perspective how did you find the flight modelling?
Tim_A 997
Well, I switched to downloaded weather, and immediately the plane was tossing around like a good 'un. and way to much in my opinion (well over 70 degrees angle of bank at times). Not sure if there's a way to tone it down, but it reminded me of the way the FSX DC3 used to buck around before the service pack...
mutley 4,498
Let's hope it is work in progress and this gets addressed in a future SP
TedG 0
The weather modeling in both XP9 and XPX leaves something to be desired. The sim is great but having a parked PC-12 get blown sideways by strong ground gusts is just silly and can be an immersion wrecker. The downloaded winds aloft can also be messy. XP9 and XPX are screaming for a 3rd party weather maker. Still...nice to see you have XPX up and running.
aeromax 10
Nice looking forward into x-plane...so
stu7708 244
Looks pretty good Tim.. Might have to give the Demo another go once I have reinstalled the computer. @TedG: REX is available for X-plane too.. at least for X-plane 9. Not sure on compatibility with XP-10 though... stu7708 244
Ah, so it's just textures for X-plane.. my bad then, thought I saw something regarding a weather enginge when I glanced through the features...
charlie 6
Looks good Tim. I haven't dabbled since XP7 and I remember it being a bit light at times, the planes did seem to be a bit sensitive.

It is mostly textures plus the weather reporting system. XP really needs a proper weather smoothing and accurate winds aloft engine plug-in as it can get tiresome.
