UKJim 502
OK so both products have been out for some time now and I have only dabbled in the AES product - but I would like to know if all of you had to choose just one out of the two which one would it be? I know the arguments for and against each product but I am looking for a decision Cheers guys, Jim
Kevin Firth 114
Never tried AES myself, plumped for GSX on price and the fact is it continually been developed.
hurricanemk1c 195
But the same applies for AES - it is being developed more and more
stu7708 244
The only problem with AES is that it lacks the (claimed) global support of GSX. I say claimed because I havn't tried it so I don't know for a fact it works on every airport.....
Kevin Firth 114
GSX has worked for me at every airport I've used it at - its better by far when you can obtain the custom .ini file that controls where everything is placed specifically for every gate and UK2000 for example are certainly good at supplying those, however you can use the graphical editor within FSX to correctly place equipment if the .ini file isn't available. I know AES is being developed as well, but not much else about it to be honest, as I was turned off by having to purchase credits for individual airports so didn't really investigate it much further. Dizzy 0
I'm a GSX guy myself. Supports every airport right out of the box (that I've ever flown to) and no credits needed.
stu7708 244
Might have to test GSX out myself after reading this. Does anyone have any input on how things work with both AES and GSX installed if I'm at a AES supported and activated airport?
brett 2,316
I never got either one but did investigate them. The credit thing did turn me off on the AES product, to much trouble because I like to fly to destinations on a whim.
UKJim 502
tempted to get gsx tbh! We shall see!
jaydor 345
I bought GSX this week and after a bit of teething troubles seems to be settling down, I bought it as I liked the idea of it working with all airports right away and not curtailed by adding on extras. The other bonus is that it has live update so you are not falling behind if you forget to update.. The only downside is that it uses Esselarate to download, good for the developers but not so good for us if you are not a documents reader as you only get 3 verifications and have to wait 60 days if you use them all; to be able to run if you made 3 hash attempts in the beginning. I know it is to stop piracy, but 3 is a little mean another 2 added would have been more sensible..
UKJim 502
Oh OK cool - I have had some unexpected costs come into my household so the addon has gone out the window Maybe next month
