Dizzy 0
Ahh it started out as a good day. The sun was shining, the winds were calm, and it was a warm 3ºC. Shorts weather for me. But I was not in shorts, I was wearing a blue wool flightsuit still ichy from the fire retardant. Should have washed it before this flight. But then again it might come in handy. Today's ride would be a P-47D. And man it's big. With a real big engine. Despite the P-47's size it's fairly easy to fly. Climbs a bit slow. But there was no problems in climbing out of Kabul. And not another airplane in sight. I selected to cruise at FL200 because of the mountains I would have to fly over. Oh and I wanted to play with the Turbo-supercharger. Yes I'm a boy and like my toys. Actually I didn't end up flying over the mountains and took a curved route to Amritsar. My first waypoint was the Pakistani city of Peshawar. Actually crossing into Pakistan was a bit of relief. Afghanistan was a bit bland if FSX. I'm told by a friend who went to Afghanistan that it's actually very beautiful once you get past people are trying to kill you. My next waypoint was Islamabad, so far an enjoyable flight. From Islamabad I turn South-East towards my destination. Everything is in the green. Wow what a big cockpit in the P-47. Yes it's a big fighter. That river up head marks the border between Pakistan and India (well sort of). Weather is closing in. Overhead the airport. The city of Amritsar The P-47 loves to descend. Check out that speed, just short of 350mph. Looking back at the airport. Those clouds don't look good. Not good at all. This could be trouble. Not much of a chance to take pictures while I landed. All my effort went into finding the runway. Luckly I followed the localizer(ish) and was lined up. But still with only 1sm vis it was kinda scary. But after a few bounces, I made it. The vis dropped even more while securing the aircraft. You can barely see those trees. Oh ya, lastly I burned 130 us. gal. of fuel

rosariomanzo 545
It 's very difficult to land that beast under normal conditions, I can imagine the difficulties that you may have encountered in poor visibility. Congratulations!
allardjd 1,853
Congratulations on getting us through the next leg. Nice job finding the ground in low visibility. Not always easy with a big cowl blocking the view where you want most to be able to see. John
